Although we live in Florida (kids are 14, 7 and 2) and go to Disney at least twice a year, we have never been to either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon -- I know, can you believe it?

So what we are wondering is just how crowded the the water parks get in August and what the wait times are for the slides/ rides and groovy stuff like that. Is it so crowded that it gets to be uncomfortable or is it just so awesome that you don't mind? Which is better and why? We are weighing the annual pass, so comments there are welcome.

Thanks!

On a side note, how do you guys put all those cool pictures and stuff as your signatures (such a noob) :)

Early August or late August? As you know, the south starts back to school in late August so crowds start to fall off. Early August will be crowded.. the tricks to manage this are

- arrive early (at opening time) and run to rides in the first hour
- arrive late for the last few hours of the day

The most popular rides will of course queue up the most. So hit those quickly then enjoy the medium queue rides and finally the pool and lazy river.

Have fun!

We were at Typhoon Lagoon a few weeks ago and got one of the smaller packages at Getaway Glen.

It is a semi-private area where you pay for 2 lounge chairs, 2 sand chairs a small table and an umbrella for the day. I believe it came with 4 chairs as well. I'm thinking it was $53......to me it was worth not having to hunt for a place to sit and rest.

At any rate, they have the same sort of area at Blizzard Beach, but I don't remember what it is called

Have a great time!

Thanks! What were the crowds and waits like? I would love to get a quiet area to rest in, but I'm not sure that our little hurricane (the 2 year-old) will let us sit down at all!

Hi. We have been to both water parks in August (usually anywhere from the end of the second week to the fourth) and we have never found them too crowded, always on a weekday though.

Yes, you can expect lines on the more popular slides and might have a little trouble ( a couple of minutes) getting a tube in the Lazy River ride at some of the entrances, but it has never been so crowded that we have not enjoyed ourselves. I think because you come in and out of water and are cooler while waiting on these lines as opposed to those at the other parks, it does not seem so bad. We will probably go to Blizzard Beach this August as well.

IMHO, Typhoon Lagoon is a prettier park and might be better for your 2 and 7 year olds, where I think BB is more popular among the teens and adults. However, if you decided on either one, I think your would have a great time.

Hope this helps. Have fun and enjoy. :goodvibes

We're from Michigan and have been to Disney 3 times in August (with our 4th August trip coming in a few weeks!). The water parks are a very welcome break from the heat on those trips.

I especially love Typhoon Lagoon because of the huge wave pool. It is a zero entry pool, so as long as you're looking after your kids, any age kids can enjoy it. Plus, they have a nice kiddie area.

I'm not sure of the ride wait times since I spend most of my time in the wave pool and lazy river where there aren't any waits. My DH and the boys went on Crush N Gusher and didn't have a long wait at all. It was mid August. I think the weather can have a lot to do with it. If it starts raining, head for the water parks! Crowds will be streaming out, and as soon as they give the all clear you can go have your fun!!

we hit the water parks first thing in the summer months. get there when it opens, stake claim to a spot and stay as long as you'd like! We'll be at WDW in 2 days for 5 days and we're actually making this a water park only trip because my boys cant get enough!
