I know Disney don't send out magic bands to the UK but does anyone know if they send out luggage tags for DME? Also is your DME booking supposed to appear on the MDE website, because our booking does not? TIA x

No they don't send ME luggage labels to the UK.

You have 2 choices:
  1. Collect your bags and take them on the coach with you (Our preferred option)
  2. After Customs put them on the baggage belt for transportation to the main terminal. When you check in a CM will ask you if you have any bags to collect and you provide the airline baggage receipts and a description and they will deliver them for you. I don't like this as they will be delivered to the carousel in the main terminal and left until Disney collect them which is an open public area. Also they can and do take up to 4 hours to deliver after your check in at the resort (not the airport).

they don't send the yellow tags

you need to collect your bags at MCO and bring them at the DME counter.

No DME luggage service for us ... (yet)

Actually they will sort your bags for you as Elise describes but if you want to see them before 5 hours later I'd take them with you. This is easy apart from one escalator, which is Okay if you have one person per suitcase. Harder without. I'm dreading the escalator with just me and my 12 year old next week but no way am I letting go of my luggage twice. I keep visualising how we are going to pull this off.......!

Thanks for the info guys.:thumbsup2

Mmm...suitcases,children,and escalators...i would just visualise going through the welcome to WDW arch if i were you!;)

Do you think it is ok that my Magical Express booking is not showing up on MDE then? I saw another post where someone said it should be under your reservations?

It doesn't show on mine either but it didn't show in Manage My Booking in the past so I'm not too worried. It was confirmed that it is booked when I called to pay off my balance. I got my Mickey Mail today and it is not on there either (used to get a voucher with the mail). I will leave it until a week before and call to confirm but if you have your onsite reservation details they will look you up on the system and put you on the coach. You won't be left behind.

My Magical Express booking didn't show up in MDE in March either but it was fine.

I have called WDW about the fact that my ME booking is not written down anywhere I can print and prove. They told me I just had to find the ME queue and give them my name and ref no. I know my name (!) and have my booking red no. So am trusting that advice. If it doesn't work out I will report back here and pay for a taxi at the airport!!!!!!

There is absolutely no reason to assume you will have any problems. As far as I know nobody in the UK had their DME reservation show up on MDE and no problems have been reported here. Even if, for whatever reason, they didn't have a record of you, if you have a reservation number I can't see that they would refuse to let you on the bus.

just to clear things up. You don't really need a reservation for Disney's Magical Express, you are just supposed to make one.
Disney says you need one, but that's only so that Disney knows, in advance, how many guests will use the service on any given day/time period, in order to manage their routes and buses.

Of course, booking DME is the polite way to do it. But the free shuttle (DME) is a perk of staying onsite.
So, as long as you have a valid hotel booking, DME WILL get you to your resort (always have a printout of your hotel reservation in case their system is down when you get there)

Some guests don't even bother booking it, and even though I think it's rude not to book, they never are refused boarding the DME.

Just go to the ME counter, tell them your name, and you'll soon be on your way to your resort. Don't worry, especially if you have booked DME. If it doesn't show, well, it doesn't show. You still are entitled to a free shuttle to and from your resort.

Just jumping onto this thread with a quick question.

Does anyone know if the Virgin Holidays coach transfer is actually the ME?

I don't think so

but as a Disney Hotel Guest, you can take the DME, if you have your US confirmation number, just call Disney to arrange for DME instead of Virgin Transfer.

all you need to be able to use DME is a room reservation at a Disney Resort Hotel.

So if you prefer to use DME, you know what to do.

Just check that you don't have to pick up any VH litterature and documents at MCO upon arrival.

Mine is showing up. No details though, just

Airport Transportation: Disney's Magical Express Service

I'm flying indirect if that makes any difference.

Not sure why how you're getting there would make any difference :confused3

Obviously, like everything else with MDE it works for some and not for others. Either way, I don't think ScoobyDooby has to worry about not being able to get on the Magical Express.

I don't see why it should either - but thought maybe an internal flight might be easier for the system to cope with.

In my very limited experience of MDE I am coming to realise that there is very little point trying to work out a logical explanation for anything it does or doesn't do! :lmao:

Can I just be cheeky and jump in and ask a similar question on this thread?

I'm 99% sure when I used DME in 2012 I got a confirmation email however this year I've had nothing. I phoned to have it added a while ago and the cast member added it onto the system but I've had no written confirmation of anything. I'll phone them nearer the time to confirm but wondered if anyone had had this experience or if you think I'm going to have a problem at MCO!

You should have had an email confirmation but, as already mentioned previously, you won't have any problem getting on DME as long as you have a WDW resort reservation

Thank you, I'll call them nearer the time to confirm. I know I shouldn't have a problem getting on with a booking problem but I'm a 'likes to be sure' kind of girl. Thanks again!

If you add it over the phone to a uk booking you won't have a confirmation email :thumbsup2

You will be fine just going to the bus - I don't think I have ever had anything to says it's booked but I have never had trouble getting on the bus and they have never asked for anything other than my name and resort :thumbsup2
