Ok, we are scheduled to check in Sat 6/25. I have PS for Chef Mickeys at 7:40. Is there a good place to watch the fireworks after that? We know nothing about Disney, this is our first trip. Any suggestions? Also include any tips on transportation. We are staying at AKL. TIA

I think you can see the fireworks really well from the beach at the Poly. I believe there is also an observation deck at the Contemporary- but I don't know who can use it. It might be just for CA Grill diners.

As for transportation, if you are staying at AKL, the only Disney transportation option you have is the busses. They are efficient, and can get you to all of the parks, waterparks, and DTD. If you need to get to another resort hotel, you should take a bus to the nearest park, then hop another bus, or monorail or boat to the resort hotel you need to get to.

If your staying at AKL, I believe your best bet would be to take the bus to MK then you can either ride the monorail or walk to the Contemperary (spelling?). I've never stayed at AKL so I'm not sure about how much time it would take to get from point A to B to C but I'd have to guess about 45 mins. I've also heard that you can see the fireworks well from the Wilderness Lodge boat launch (haven't tried).
have fun!

Take the monorail to MK oor forget all of that and eat on the patio at R&C at Epcot and watch Illuminations.

Busses are only option. If you are renting a car this can be even better option. Parking is free and you are on your own time table.
