Advice for DL visit 12/28-1/1?

We used to be long-time AP holders, (live 10 min from DL), but we haven't been in over a year. I used to be up on all the available discounts, etc. but have lost track.
My brother and his family are visiting from Chicago Dec. 28 - Jan 1, and would like to go to the parks.
I'm surprised at price increase since we last visited!
So here's my specific questions:

1. I know it will be crowded every day during that period, but would any particular day be better?
2. Are there any discounts available? Our family intends to upgrade our day pass to APs during our visit.

They don't offer discounts on 1-day passes. You can buy discounts tickets from certain employee groups (teachers, military,..etc.). My mom works for the hospital and they have tickets for $47.50, but sometimes they sell out.

Otherwise check mousesavers for multi-day ticket discounts. I have AP's and right now they are offering $20 off a 2-day pass for friends and family. If you know anyone with an AP maybe they can get you the discounted tickets.
