My DH came home with a local store's valentine day special, surf and turf. I have cooked the "turf" many times, but I need help with the tail. It is frozen (the steak is not). Can it be cooked from frozen? Any advice on the best cooking method? It's an 8 oz tail (or its packaging claims it is).

I would not cook from frozen. Just thaw it in a bowl of water tomorrow and it will be fine for Monday. Steam/boil it and serve with butter.

Typically, a frozen lobster tail is already cooked. Thaw and heat, should be good to go.

No,it is not cooked.Thaw it in the refrigerator, split it open so it is butterflied, and then cook it on the grill.Delicious!!!

Thank you all for your advice. After posting here, I called the grocery store and did a basic internet search. TheIncredibles! was correct, not to cook it frozen. But the store and the internet advised me I could thaw it under cold running water for approximately two hours.

I followed this advice and gentled boiled the tail in salted water for 8 minutes.

It turned out perfectly. It really was a huge tail compared to the ones I have had at a restaurant as a surf and turf menu.My DH and I split this and a 6 oz fillet with pasta, creamed spinach and crescent rolls. It worked out to about $10/serving which I think is pretty good!

Interesting. I have never seen a frozen lobster tail that wasn't already cooked. Doesn't happen around here.
