Hello Everyone!!! My name is Emily and my boyfriend and I are going to Disneyland for the first time next January. I have been to Disney World over 14 times and I am extremely used to touring a certain way. For those of you who have been to both parks, how do you tour disneyland as compared to disney world? What strategies work for you and what planning tools do you use? I am sorry if I am just adding to the multiple threads asking this same question :P. Also, what do you recommend for first timers? We are both college students so are on a budget:tongue:

folks are going to send you a bunch of links that will give you info

but if you want specific answers, your questions need to be specific as in:

what are the dates?

what have you reserved for lodging?

what is the amount of your budget?

How do you tour WDW?

As for tools, we only have one, and it has not been implemented yet.

Start here then come back with more questions: A DLR Guide for WDW Vets. Also, you can do a search for threads on visiting DLR on a budget.

Thanks for the link! I just read it and it answered my questions. Sorry for the unnecessary thread :p!

  • January 7-11th
  • We are staying in an Airbnb 7 minutes off property
  • total budget is $1500
  • We are both more about rides and food than characters and shows. However, he is really into music so we may want to go to a few shows.

how much is food budget, because DCA could be more to your liking than Disneyland. Dca was built around food, while in Disneyland food was an after thought with the exception of the POC resturant.

as for touring, with the guidelines above, DCA is more to your style. Disneyland is alll about characters, while in DCA, they said, hey we built this state fair and we are done....oh...we forgot characters, so the randomly show up, there are more traveling music groups in DCA that boyfriend will like than Disneyland

how are you arriving from the bnb to disneyland/

  • our food budget is $175 for the two days we are visiting disneyland
  • We plan to get to disneyland with uber. I've read about other peoples' experiences and we will have them drop us off at either downtown disney or the grand californian. Our other option is walking a about a half hour.

88.00 each for two days food.. 40.00 each...hmmmm....may not be enough if you are visiting for the food....so my suggestion is to save as much as you can for buying food in DCA, much better and fun environments, where as cheap food in Disneyland for your budget has no ambience, that is why disneyland has not improved its food service, more demand than product, whereas DCA trys to draw folks from disneyland to eat with the fun and wide variety of food. So eat hearty at BNB and bring in trail bars/cheese sticks/ startch mixes for your disneyland day and splurge in DCa
