We are staying at the DLH this Fall (haven't stayed there since I was 7 or 8). Anyway we have a standard room package booked. I checked into it and I can upgrade our package to a pool room view for $78 more (total--not per night). So, is the pool view room worth the $78 more? Any advice on a specific area of the hotel to request for our room, etc? Thanks!

Yes, it is to me! I prefer Dreams with DTD or pool view. Right up there is the Magic tower pool view. I like Dreams because you walk out your tower into DTD and over to the monorail. I like Magic because it's the lobby tower and everything is right there. My last choice is the Wonder tower because it's farther away and I prefer to be closer to the pool, dining, and DTD. Others really like it because the waterfalls and koi ponds are right there.

One note is that they will be starting the refurbishment in the Dreams tower in fall, and half of the tower will be closed. However, it isn't supposed to impact guests in the other half as they are changing out the beds or something. Obviously there will be fewer rooms, though.

My only advice is to get a room with two queen beds. Those rooms are much larger than the rooms with the king beds. I'll never stay in a king room again at DLH.

I'm with you Dizme! LOVE the Dreams Tower. There's something about that HAT!! We've never had a standard room at the DLH only Pool view and love it. As you can open the sliding door and check out the Peter Pan themed pool instead of a parking garage- NOT TOO MAGICAL!
If you can afford the extra $$ I think it's worth it!

Hi, ballarinamom! Here's a pic of you and me in DL in Nov.

My friend and I had a great time in SA in March--thanks for the tips.

*Sorry about the hijack, OP*

I also forgot to say that at night, they project a big Tinkerbell into the pool and it's really cool! The Mickey hat is awesome and we were lucky enough to have a corner room in the Dreams tower with a side window looking right at it a few feet away last November. If you have a DTD-facing room, there is music and performers right below you. The Compass Bookstore is right across from you and it has pastries, fruit, yogurt, and good coffee drinks. There's also free coffee in the lobby of each tower with to-go cups and real cream, plus creamers etc.

Thanks for your responses--I booked the pool view room! My kids are so excited--crossing our fingers that we do get the pool view room now and not DTD. My son says that he wants to look out at the "pirate ship". They are so excited--can't wait to go! :cool1:

Karebear, would you mind sharing how you "checked into it" and was able to get a room upgrade for so little? We are staying there in October for 5 nights and have booked a standard room and I would be interested in upgrading if the cost is minimal. Thanks.
