advertising on tv

so last night i was watching Big Bang Theory re-runs on channel 9 when an ad came on...

for Disneyland!!!

i turned to carlo, he turned to me and we were like, what the ???? since when does disneyland advertise on australian tv???

not sure if channel 9 forgot to dub over the american ads with aussie ones, or whether disney have finally clued into australians being willing to part with $$$ for disney vacations, but it was very cute to see this ad for this magical place on aussie tv!!!

anyone else see the ad? or know more about targeted australian disney promos?

Was that the 'Stay One More Day' ad? I've seen that one on tv a few times in the past couple of months, makes me want to go back so much! But it also makes me worried that the Disney secret (pft who am I kidding, it's no secret) will spread around Australia!

The same ad I mentioned above was played when I saw The Muppets the other day! Ahh Disneyland on a massive cinema screen

I have been seeing quite a few Disneyland ads since late last year. At one stage I was seeing a few a day, then they seemed to stop.

I think they are starting to realise what a big market they have over here, how we are prepared to travel further than many other countries and with our $ that more Aussies are travelling to the USA. They do monitor many areas, including these boards, so will be seeing the number of Aussies travelling to the US growing and that they need to make sure that the all visit DL or WDW.

I'm hoping it may mean some Aussie specials in the future Wouldn't that be awesome

lol. i too had the same immediate response that the disney 'secret' would be out

but i also think that with more members on the dis and more people inquiring at their travel agents etc, it is a huge untapped market for disney and it's not like they have a lot of competition so here's hoping (fingers crossed) for some awesome deals or pin codes or even just cheaper or more frequent flights!!!

having said that, aussies do have access to the 14 day disneyland ticket for roughly the same price that disneyland sell their 6 day hopper, so if that encourages more aussies to travel to disneyland and stay longer... yay!! now, if only the on-site hotel prices were a little less $$$ - we'll be there for 8 days, and only 2 of those will be onsite

They were playing that ad towards the end of last year, then I didn't see it for afew months, and just this week I've seen it a couple of times again. My husband called me last night to tell me my favourite tv show was on when it came on!

I did read last year on Micechat that DLR was targetting other countries such as Australia, New Zealand and Canada for marketing this year.

Yes! I saw that too!! I'm holding off buying my Disneyland tickets in the hope there could be a "special" on tickets/packages. Makes for interesting times!!
