Adventures at 40"! May 2014 TR *COMPLETE* 9/10 **NEW** Italy ABD TR link posted 9/29

Major bummer for all the rain but it sounds like you made the best of it!

I really hope our 4-year old loves Star Tours - he loves the Lego Star Wars stuff now but is not a huge fan of the dark, so...:confused3

Both of my older boys do the same thing for any princess song - "Mommy, it's Little Mermaid/Cinderella/Rapunzel!" Aren't they so thoughtful?:lmao:

Too bad about all the noises from the room! I always forget to bring ear plugs for sleeping, but it is tough to sleep anywhere without them now. The fireworks would be a bother - but the delivery trucks would make me MAD! Ugh!

Anyway, nice morning so far at DHS - Aria is definitely at the point where she gets her own shooter too! Funny on star tours - glad he didn't freak out! Soo cute at the LM show, how excited he was for YOU to see it!! That is so sweet. I hate having to stow the camera due to rain!! That happened a lot on our June trip too!

It looks like Paxton had a blast on TSMM. :) Too bad you had to fight the rain afterwards, and he didn't have the best time on Star Tours. It sounds like he really liked Little Mermaid though. :)

Glad you were still make it in and get on TSMM with a short wait! DS all grown up now getting his own seat and shooter!

Ugh sorry to hear about all the rain :(

Lovely LM pictures!!

Yay for getting to stay at Wilderness Lodge! I think a quick trip totally makes it okay to enjoy an on-site resort.

Boo to the rain! I can't imagine just how much more difficult it is to deal with the rain when you have a little one and a stroller. Right now, we've only had to deal with just throwing ponchos on ourselves and going wherever we please. Even so, I feel as if things like your DS's TSMM excitement more than make up for it!

Oh man that does not sound like a good night of sleep :( and rain too!

So awesome that DS got to use his own gun on TSM! Reminds me of when I was finally tall enough to drive the cars on Tomorrowland Speedway. The power!!

Hahaha that's so sweet he reminded you that the show was all about the Little Mermaid!

Oh too bad that he didn't love Star Tours. So many of those dark rides, you just never know which ones will be scary. I was laughing out loud at "I'm tired" :lmao: Makes sense to me!

Awesome that he got his own shooter! That's a big boy job!

Gorgeous Little Mermaid photos! Stunning!

The "tired" excuse was pretty funny, all you can do is laugh as you try to make the ride sound like SO. MUCH. FUN! :rotfl: We figured it was better to get him on and see if he liked it than just skip it thinking he would hate it. Not sure if we will get him on it again anytime soon, but that's okay!

He was SO excited to have his own shooter! We recently introduced him to TSM on with Wii at home, and he loves it.

Thanks!

You may have failed to mention the seats move????

:rotfl2:

Bad Mommy!

:rotfl2:

But, hey - he LIKED it! So Score! :cool1:

Ugh to the rain! It definitely puts a damper on park touring. Get it - damper? :rotfl:

OK, I am such a nerd this morning.

Cute pictures of Paxton on TSM!

Ooooh, I was SUCH a bad mom. :lmao: But it got him through the queue and onto the ride. And he was not screaming or crying hysterically, so I'd say that's somewhat of a success. :thumbsup2

We had a lot of rain to put a lot of DAMPER on our day, that's for sure!!!!

Thanks. :goodvibes

Great Update! It's so sweet that he wants to make sure you know when some of your favorite Little Mermaid songs are on the radio.

Haha thanks, it's really cute when he does it in the car, so it was even cuter in the show.

Boo Yuk, Rain! At least you didn't go to AK! We spent a rainy morning at AK last trip, and that park is really no fun in the rain. The animals don't mind though!

AK is a terrible park to be in after the rain too! All those trees over the walkways make water keep falling on you even after the rain has passed. :headache:

Don't you just hate when someone has a ticket issue ahead of you in line? I swear, I'm an extremely patient person, but whenever I have to watch dozens of other guests stroll into a park while I'm stuck waiting behind people have who have no idea what they're doing, I get so antsy. Just let me into the park already!:rotfl2:

Looks like Paxton was more than ready for his own machine on TSMM. Wow, it is sort of mind boggling to think that I read your report where you celebrated him turning one, and now he's sitting in his own seat and getting on coasters! :goodvibes.
I couldn't help but laugh just a little at the. Star Tours experience. Maybe your DS has learned that a mom never turns down naptime. :rotfl: it's good to hear that there were no meltdowns during the ride and that the rain bothered him more than anything.

GAH, I KNOW!!! I was so stressed about BEING that person that I really hadn't considered how annoying it would also be to be BEHIND that person! It really wasn't even that long, but every second counts when you're trying to get to TSM!

Aw, I know, I was looking through his 1st trip scrapbook with him over the weekend, and it's so crazy to think how much time we have spent in Disney since he was a year old and all of the memories & changes to our touring.

By the end of the day, he had calmed down about the rain, but it was pretty stressful at the beginning of the day, despite how much I had prepped him about getting wet.

Oh my, I never considered the Fireworks noise you would hear at WL. That would make sleeping tough.

Haha, that was funny... rushing to get a picture of the hat where there's riding to be done. :rotfl:

"I'm tired!!!" That's so cute.

Oh my word those Mermaid photos. Wonderful.

I didn't think about it either at 9 pm when we hit the sack, so I was groaning at 10 pm and for the first time ever, wishing that Wishes would hurry up and end! :lmao: Never thought I would say that!!

I couldn't help laughing when the "tired" excuse came out. Bad mom again! First I don't tell him the seats move, then I'm laughing at how scared he was!

Thanks!!

bummer about the rain - especially when feet are getting went

Glad you son enjoyed TSMM so much though!

Aw, I think it is really tough to gauge how kids will do with Star Tours. Right after my daughter said she liked it but we were talking about it the other day and she said "The Darth Vader ride? I do NOT want to ride that ever again!" - so there's that

That's cute that he points out the Little Mermaid sons when they come on :goodvibes

It was just miserably wet everywhere, and the water was deep in some parts of the park. I'm pretty sure we were all soaked to our socks in no time.

:rotfl: That's funny about Star Tours!! With a lot of those "advanced" Disney attractions, it's so hard to know how they will react on it. I'd rather get him on it once and if he decides he doesn't like it, okay we'll wait until he's ready vs. not going at all.

Haha It always makes me smile when he does it.

Major bummer for all the rain but it sounds like you made the best of it!

With such a short amount of time, we knew we had to just do our best to do what we could with the weather because it definitely wasn't letting up. We have gotten so spoiled with such great weather on our fall trips!

Hopefully he will like it. :goodvibes It is kind of dark in there, but not as bad as some other attractions. DS hates loud noises more than the dark, so that didn't really work in our favor with ST.

:lmao: What would we do without them?!?!

Love your TR so far :) we stayed at WL about 8 years ago it was lovely :) your little boy is adorable. Can't wait to read the rest

Earplugs would have been so smart! I don't ever think to bring those on vacation either, but I probably should because I already have a hard time sleeping in unfamiliar beds, never mind the noises. The delivery trucks sucked most of all. At least with fireworks, I was slightly annoyed that I had been woken up, but then I was thinking, "We are sleeping so close to MK!!"

So crazy how quickly these kiddos have grown! First their own shooters on TSM, next it'll be their own car on Tomorrowland Speedway!

His reaction to the LM show was the sweetest thing ever! Love him so much.

We have gotten spoiled by fall weather with little to no rain, that's for sure!!

It looks like Paxton had a blast on TSMM. :) Too bad you had to fight the rain afterwards, and he didn't have the best time on Star Tours. It sounds like he really liked Little Mermaid though. :)

It was an up and down morning, but I wouldn't do a thing differently because we ended up having a great day despite the rain!

Glad you were still make it in and get on TSMM with a short wait! DS all grown up now getting his own seat and shooter!

Ugh sorry to hear about all the rain :(

Lovely LM pictures!!

I know, it's crazy to see how much he has grown up when comparing trips!

The rain was unfortunate, but we did our best to plow ahead with our plans and not let it slow us down.

Thanks!

I loved that it just MADE SENSE for us to spend the money for an onsite place again! Who would have thought?

A million times YES! Rain is sucky enough, but totally manageable when you're only responsible for keeping yourself dry. Waaaay harder with a kid in a stroller. But we managed okay, I think. :goodvibes

It was a shaky start for such a short trip, but we pulled it together!

:rotfl: I'm sure that's what he was thinking. He was AMAZED to have his own seat and shooter for the first time! Like, "I'm really allowed to do this?!"

Haha Yes, it was very cute! He can be so sweet sometimes.

:rotfl:

I may have to try your tactics with my boyfriend when I take him for his first trip. He is not a fan of rides! :cool1:

DO IT!! :lmao::lmao: Although being that he's not 3 years old, the seatbelts will probably tip him off that it's not just a normal 3D movie. :rotfl:

Oh man that's a bummer - dream resort but not the dream view or soundtrack.

Oh the rain... that was such a wet day! While you were weathering the storm at DHS we were doing the same at Saturday. I think it helped with the crowd levels though because Sunday was crazy!

Rough night... Too bad they can't find a better way to get trucks unloaded and restock the place than to back trucks up outside guest rooms in the middle of the night. :headache:

Sorry about the luck waiting to get into DHS. It never fails, I will always pick the line that has something like that happen. :lmao:

Why no score from Paxton's first time playing TSMM solo? :confused3

I'm glad that he maybe enjoyed Star Tours???? :rotfl2: I watched Star Wars with DS a couple of weeks ago trying to at least get him ready to maybe want to try the ride. He isn't a fan of dark either, so we'll see how that one goes. The Phineas and Ferb Star Wars cross over might be some good ammunition for me to use to get him excited about it though.

Nice beach pics.
Like on Kitchen Nightmares. ROTF. Sad the next season is the end.
LOL. His face was dirty.
How does he sleep with his arms like that? Talented.
Rainy photos are better than none.
Nice pics around the lobby.
The room is pretty.
Gorgeous lobby pics.
I liked the TSM photos.
LOL at the little white lie about the nice movie and glasses.
At least he said he liked it.
Nice pics of mermaid.
All caught up again.

Aw, that is so annoying when you lose so much DIS writing! :sad2: I too write my updates in Word first. And sometimes even my comments, as I am now. :rotfl:

All the rain in DHS brings back memories of our 2011 trip. Our DHS day was absolutely pouring rain, especially during rope drop. Luckily, it was pre-kid, so a bit less to deal with, but no fun to do the Toy Story Mania stampede in the rain with huge puddles.

Ugh, getting stuck in the line with the Magic Band problems is just like getting in the shortest grocery line and ending up with all sorts of delays while the long lines bypass you. Glad your bands all worked okay, though! :thumbsup2

Huh, that’s good to know the old FP area is stroller parking now – I wasn’t aware of that. So cool that Paxton was able to operate his own shooter on TSM!

We were the same way with the stroller cover – we bought one for Dec. 2013 and didn’t need it at all the whole week! Weather was perfect. However, I used it for the first time in June and got A LOT of use out of it – most of that trip, actually. Luckily, it provided very full coverage and there were no wet feet – Izzy ended up taking her naps under it, in fact. Glad you had the extra ponchos to keep him dry.

Ha, love his reaction to Star Tours. Toddlers – Izzy often says, “No, yeah!”, etc. Who knows what they’re really thinking? :confused3

Glad Paxton enjoyed the Little Mermaid show! And how sweet that he points out the songs for you. :goodvibes

It was definitely a much louder room than we had anticipated, but it didn't taint our stay at all. I'm still so happy we decided to stay there, and I would do it all again in a heartbeat! I'd just bring ear plugs next time. ;)

SUCH a wet day! It made the crowds great on Saturday, but boy did they make up for it on Sunday!!!

Anytime besides 2 am would have been better. :faint: 7 am, middle of the afternoon, during the 10 pm fireworks. Seriously? 2 am?!?

You know, DH probably did take a picture of DS's score on his phone and I just never got his photos.

Months later, I'm still not really sure if he enjoyed it or not. :lmao: I'm not really into SW enough to show Paxton the movies, but we did start the Harry Potter brainwashing a couple weekends ago when ABC Family was showing all of the movies, so I can understand the sentiment. He is a big fan of Voldemort (or as he calls him, Older-mart).

Thanks! We had a blast on the beach.

I have NO idea how he sleeps with his arms up like that, and that's not even the weirdest position he has fallen asleep in. :confused3

The room and the lobby were everything we had imagined and more! Although we had visited WL a few times in the past, there is something so much more exciting knowing you're going to be staying there!

I am not above little white lies if it gets him on something I know he could potentially enjoy. :rotfl: Whether he did or not, I'm still not entirely sure, though!

Aw, that is so annoying when you lose so much DIS writing! :sad2: I too write my updates in Word first. And sometimes even my comments, as I am now. :rotfl:

I switched to the typing in Word method, and so far, so good. :thumbsup2 It's really helped me too because I can work on an update whenever I have time and add to it instead of feeling like I need to rush through it to get something up.

After a total of one afternoon of rain in the last three trips, an entire day of rain definitely threw us for a loop! Luckily, we had been uber prepared on our October trip, and even though we didn't need any of it for that trip, it came in handy on this trip and we had everything we needed. If he had been a little smaller, his feet would have been under, but he has gotten so big! At least we were able to think on our feet (ha!) and solve that problem quickly!!

His reaction to ST totally confused me, but he didn't seem totally traumatized, so I guess it was okay? :confused3:rotfl: You really never can tell!!

He can be sooooo sweet when he wants to be, and that is just one of the many things I love about him! Just this morning, I was getting dressed for church and he said I looked like a princess. :goodvibes

Day 3 Continued: Saturday May 3rd

After singing along with Ariel on Voyage of the Little Mermaid, we ran through the rain across the animation plaza to catch the first Disney Jr. Live show. While making our way through the queue, we talked and decided to change around one of our FP+ reservations. We had made an afternoon one for Star Tours thinking that it would either be our first ride on it if we didn’t make it on in the morning, or if we rode it and he loved it, we could ride again later. Since he wasn’t a huge fan, we decided to change it to Great Movie Ride from 9:20 am-10:20 am. We figured we could head right over there after Disney Jr. and first, avoid the rain if it was still coming down by doing a longer indoor attraction, and second, help us use up our FP+ reservations in the morning so we could make a 4th FP+ reservation before leaving the park for our break.

Anyway, back to Disney Jr. The show was at 9:40 am, so we just made it in and as a result, we were seated way over on the right side without the best view. But DS didn’t seem to mind, he was excited from the beginning of the show!

He likes Jake well enough, although it’s not his favorite Disney Jr. show, but you’d never know it by how excited he gets when those gold doubloons come raining down from the ceiling during the show!!

03-047 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

After another great time at Disney Jr., we hurried through the sheets of rain to Great Movie Ride and hustled right in with our FP+. DS was so excited to get to scan his band again!

It’s evidently been awhile since I went through this queue, so I was surprised and excited to see this in one of the display cases…

I am a HUGE fan of Gone With the Wind, and this dress in particular is an absolute favorite of mine! My aunt is obsessed with GWtW also, and as a kid, she took me to see the movie when they were showing it at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, and she bought me a huge framed poster print of Scarlett in that picnic dress that I had hanging over my bed until I moved out of my parents’ house.

Anyway, after only a few minutes, we were on our way into a Spectacular Journey Into the Movies!

As we made our way into a seedy part of town, I knew this was probably the point where DS would be pretty unhappy about this ride, because more than anything else, he HATES loud noises! My thoughts were confirmed when this gangster showed up and initiated a gunfight.

Oh wow, I LOVE your photos of WL. I really want to stay there one day.

And Florida weather is so crazy, 69 degrees in May? We were there just three weeks later and it was 90s for the whole week.

And I laughed out loud when you said that the Hat was being mobbed! A five minute wait is pretty good!

Can't wait for more!

All morning, I had been texting back and forth with a DISer I had been looking forward to meeting for a long time! She is in Disney World quite often, it seems, so it wasn’t too long before our trips overlapped and we had made plans to meet up at the exit to GMR. Sure enough, I found her and her husband outside waiting for us! We chatted for a bit like old friends, then she asked if she could take a picture of the three of us. I was game, but DS was apparently not cooperative (even though she had won him over with a Mickey sticker!).

03-079 by disneymom1024, on Flickr
Not our best!!

So I suggested she come in the shot to get a photo WITH her, not just one of us. It’s Brenda, aka Emmysmommy!!

03-081 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

She was such a pleasure to meet and spend a few minutes with! We also met and chatted with her lovely husband Michael. After a few minutes, we parted ways, but it was a great first of many DIS meets for the weekend!! We had to get back over to Pixar Place to use our FP+ for Toy Story Mania.

We walked right on and DS rode with me this time. He absolutely loved shooting, and did pretty well considering I didn’t help him at all and he was playing on his own. I turned on the Wii for the first time in years last weekend and he played TSM on there for the first time…he loved it! Getting him lots of practice in for our next trip, I guess.

03-084 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

After our second round of TSM fun, DS said he wanted to go visit Lightning McQueen and Mater, so we headed towards the back lot to do just that. I don’t even know why we took this picture of him walking, but I just love it, so I’m posting it.

03-086 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

When it was his turn to meet the cars, he ran right over to his long lost friends for some photos.

After visiting with our friends from Cars, those donuts for breakfast were starting to feel a long way off. We were ready to find something to fill our grumbling bellies for lunch.

We went over to the nearby Backlot Express, only to find that they don't start serving lunch until 11:30. But we didn't really want to go do something else in the meantime, so we hung around and waited for them to start serving since it was about 11:15 at the time. DS spotted this big white horse and requested a photo, so here ya go.

03-099 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

DS and I got the table set up with napkins, ketchup, etc., and got our hands clean while DH waited in line for them to open. I got chicken nuggets, because sometimes when you're in Disney, you just want them nuggets! DH tried out the buffalo nuggets, and got DS a kids power pack because it came in a Lightning McQueen bucket that he LOVED! He also actually ate the food, which included an oatmeal cinnamon bar, carrot sticks, apple slices, yogurt, Goldfish crackers, and milk.

Lunch!

During lunch, I was texting back and forth with an old friend that I have known since 1st grade, but haven't seen in forever! We both happened to be in Disney at the same time since she and her husband were running the Expedition Everest race, and that day we happened to both be in DHS. I had a ToT FP+ coming up for right after lunch, and that's where she was sitting & waiting for her DH to finish riding ToT. Since DS takes longer to eat, I ran over there while DH waited for him to finish eating. I found her sitting outside and we spent a few minutes catching up and talking about the race. Then we parted ways when her DH came back and I went to use my FP+. But we said we'd meet up again a little later so she could meet DS.

03-103 by disneymom1024, on Flickr
What a beauty!!!

I had an amazing ride sequence, including the ghosts that Sam always mentions in her TR but I had yet to see!! It was pretty exciting! It got EVEN BETTER when we got down to the movie and they did the fake out where they start playing the movie and then shoot you back to the top and drop you down again! That's gotta be the best ride sequence EVER!

High off my ride, I met up with DH and DS outside so DH could ride ToT. DS and I waited for him in that great little corner to the left as you exit the gift shop, but DS wasn't in the best mood ever for having his picture taken apparently.

03-104 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

By that time, my friend and her DH were coming out of RnRC so DS and I went over there so she could meet him. He was nice and chatty for about a minute, then he pulled his sunshade down on the stroller as if to say he was absolutely done talking. Lol And we had her DH get a pic of us.

03-107 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

So great catching up with old friends in such a fun place!
