Adventure in south east asia trip report

Did you go swimming in Laos in the natural pool of water after lunch and before seeing the bears? We went swimming, but some on out trip were sick for a couple of days afterwards. Many in our group thought it was from swimming. I was wondering if ABD kept it.

No cousin Orville there was no swimming. There was a bit of confusion about it as Drew told us there was swimming, but when we reached the spot our local guide said it was "too dangerous". It any event we were all tired by then and happy to go back to the hotel. We cancelled the trip to the temple in the afternoon (not sure which one) and met up at 5.30 for the night market expedition. All the kids in the group had a ball in the pool that afternoon.

That must have been scary not knowing where your boys were! I'm glad it all turned out well. I'm surprised, because this is usually the kind of thing the Adventure Guides excel at.

The elephant ride sounds fun!

Great blog! My son and I are big Amazing Race fans, so the race through the temples was right up our alley. I remember where your boys got lost. That's a very complex temple. If a party separated, it could be tough to find each other especially if everyone is running around. We actually ended our race inside that temple and exited together as an ABD group. Sounds like they changed it up. Glad it turned out ok. It was one our favorite ABD activities, but you race through the temples so fast, it's hard to really appreciate what you're seeing very much like the Amazing Race. We went back on the post ABD day to tour around Ta Prohm and Bayon.

Hope you have a wonderful last day!

Hi Anna,

It was great fun sharing this Adventure with you and the boys. We miss having "Fan Boy" (Flynn) around to keep us cool... :)

Flynn misses you guys too! He loved being part of a bigger group. Thanks so much for adopting us - we loved all the dinner opportunities and it was so much more fun for us to have extra people instead of just our family.

Cousin Orville,

Thanks again for all of your tips, suggestions and restaurant recommendations. We went to dinner at the Club Opera Novel and Sugar Palm and everyone enjoyed their meals very much. But, as "austraveler" described in her blog, I think we were enjoying the music a little TOO much at the Club Opera Novel because the volume gradually decreased until there was just silence... :rolleyes1
