Has anyone been? Is it nice? My kids are 14, 10 & 4, we are thinking of taking them there Friday. Do you think they'll enjoy it? Any tips? Is there a parking fee? Cafeteria onsite? Expensive giftshop? Things not to miss? Any photos you care to share?

We've been to the Baltimore Aquarium, does anyone know how it compares? :teeth:

The Aquarium is definitely nice.

It used to be called the NJ State Aquarium, but was recently purchased by a private company (hence the name change). They added one of those shark tunnel thingy's, along with some hippo's that they actually got from Disney's Animal Kingdom.

They also have a little park adjacent to the aquarium called the Children's Garden. It has an awesome little butterfly house that my nieces LOVE! They have a merry-go-round, and just added another amusement ride (can't remember what it is exactly). They have one or two gift shops (yes, expensive, but what gift shop is not expensive?) and a cafeteria.

It's a very nice place to take the kids, but doesn't really compare to Baltimore (but very nice nontheless!).

I've been only once, assumming this is the aquarium just across the river from Philadelphia. We liked it a lot. I thought it was better than the Vancouver aquarium. But, not as good as Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.

We have a family membership because my 10 ds could go everyday he loves it.

We live very close to the aquarium...we visited in the summer and seemed to walk through very quickly. I have to admit I wasn't thrilled but then again I was 8 months pregnant. DS3 at the time liked it but wasn't exactly thrilled either. It was a nice trip but, I don't think you will be spending hours there. The admission is sort of pricey and yes there was a parking fee, can't recall how much.

On a side note....be very careful driving in Camden. I am a grad. student at Rutgers Camden and had a scary incident happen last week. I was at a red light and pulled up very close to the car in front of me, no one else was around and the 2 men in the car got out and approached my car, but then turned around & got back in their car when 2 other cars came behind me. Nothing happend but I was absolutely terrified. Lesson: always stay a full car's length behind the other car. Keep in mind that although the area around the aquarium is seemingly safe, you still have to drive through the #1 most dangerous city in the USA to get there. Post back and let us know how you like it! Have fun!
