We are booked for POP on Dec 13th and I have several requests for the room we want and I wondered what your thoughts were as far as ,prority, reasonable etc.

1)We have booked 2 connecting rooms (since this is our "main" request, should it just be this and nothing else?)
2)We are arriving late at about 10-30pm (should I make sure they know about this and keep a hold on our connecting room request.....if this is possible?)
3)On our last visit to POP, we really liked the 50's building, facing the parking lot,on a higher floor (Is asking for this along with the other requests "going too far" ?)

What do you think is reasonable to request ?
thanks

From what I've heard, your best bet is to call or fax the resort 3 days before your arrival. IMO, you can request as much as you want. (2 things doesn't seem unreasonable to me - We're requesting a building and a King bed.) I'd just be sure to prioritize if one thing is really important, and remember its only a request. You may or may not get what you are asking for. Good luck!

Great advice!:thumbsup2 It is nice to see someone get a good, honest answer to this question without getting the ole 'your-not-guaranteed-your-request-so-don't-even-get-your-hopes-up-and-don't-go-out-of-your-way-to-try-to-get-it-just-smile-and-be-glad-you-are-there-no-matter-what-you-get' lecture.

As for the question, as you know, keep your request to a minimum, as you seem to have done. I would think the connecting room shouldn't be a problem. The earlier you arrive for check-in, the more likely you are to get your request because the number of rooms waiting to be assigned is greater. Since you are arriving late, should you not get your connecting room when you arrive, ask if you can be moved the follwing day. And I would also try sending a fax as well, as mentioned. We do this every time, have been assured that they DO get them and READ and NOTE them and have gotten the connecting request on every trip without a problem.

Have fun!

Aw, shucks. Thanks.:flower3:

I've not been a member here all that long, but I've gotten SO much help and so many good wishes, I just can't see not passing that on when I get the chance. All in all, the Dis boards are filled w/ such good hearted people, it makes me sad when someone answers insincerely or cuts someone down.

So, just "paying it forward." Thanks Dis-ers! :cool1:

The best thing you can do is have the requests in your reservation. That way no one needs to match up a piece of paper with your requests to your reservation. If you wait until 2-3 days before you arrive the room assigner has probably already assigned your rooms.

Just because your room is 'assigned' 2-3 days in advance, that does not mean that you are going to be stuck with that--it's not final. There have been several occasions when we checked in and when they gave us our room (our 'assigned' rooms I assume) we said something like, "We prefer another location, can you give us something different" and they were able to. :)

These are reasonable requests. You need connecting rooms and it is always wise to let a hotel know you arriving late. Plus there is nothing wrong with sending in a specific building request at all at the same time.
