DH and I have decided to take a trip with just the two of in May. I've tentatively booked a few favorites, but are interested in trying some new places.

Here's what we have so far:

Olivia's at OKW (arrival night at our resort)
Marakesh (dh's request to try something completely new at Epcot) NEW to us
Hollywood Brown Derby (lunch - COBB SALAD!!)
Jiko
Artist Point
Flying Fish (a bit of an adventure since I'm allergic to fish) NEW to us

Please share fresh ideas - the teen & young adult dd's are staying at home...and Mom and Dad are ready to cut loose and have a good time on our own.

I will be celebrating at BIG  birthday on this trip & want it to be memorable.

(PS - I know V & A will get mentioned.....not in our plans because the limitations of my allergy & because we aren't planning on anything "formal" for this trip)

Fire away - let's hear lots of ideas!!!

What do you enjoy at R & C? We've been there a few times & do enjoy it when we can manage to get a table near the water to view Illuminations - but that is hit or miss.

I've never been "wowed" by the food - but it has been a few years and I can't remember what we've tried.

On our last night out we enjoyed BlueZoo. This year we are planning on trying the new Mexican restaurant and Raglan Road. Happy Birthday!

Thank you!!

BlueZoo sounds intriguing - I'll have to check out the menus. :thumbsup2

What about a breakfast like Kouzzina where you can have mimosas?

A night at downtown Disney.

Ohana during Wishes (not just for the kids!)

Les Chefs de France, Tutto Italia or Le Cellier

Kouzzina sounds interesting - that is new since we were last there I think. Mimosas - YUM!

We were trying to think of somewhere nice for breakfast - thanks!

You’ve got some excellent selections already. IMO, Wolf Gang Pucks dining room (up stairs, not the café downstairs) is a hidden gem. Their hors d'oeuvres are fantastic; a duck with goat cheese selection or blue cheese gnocchi are DW and my favorites. For your main course their filet in the port wine sauce is a good bet. The port wine sauce is unbelievable!

The other top notch selection, and by no means a secret, is the California grill atop the Contemporary Resort. If you can make it for Wishes thats always a nice touch. As far as the dining experience goes, DW and I have always had excellent service here, and the food has always been tremendous too. You can’t go wrong with the goat cheese ravioli or the pork loin with the goat cheese polenta. Yes, we love our goat cheese! :thumbsup2

For breakfast, the best is Kona at the Polynesian Resort. The wasabi bloody mary is a good choice and the Tonga toast is fantastic. Since you mentioned Olivia’s, they do a nice breakfast too. If you want to make it back there for another meal the banana bread French toast is very good, and it’s something a little off the beaten path.

Bon apetit!

Il Mulino. I like bluezoo better but since that is all fish, Il Mulino is my next choice. I'd also recommend Bistro de Paris.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions - keep them coming! I'm getting some great ideas.

I think we will definitely add Wolfgang Puck's to the list. We have only eaten downstairs in the cafe & at the express location, but some of his restaurants are favorites when we go to Vegas.

Kona sounds great too - although I am an odd duck & don't enjoy the Tonga Toast (or any kind of French Toast really)....but we both LOVE their press pot coffee. I'll check out their breakfast menu. We always have great service there.

We always love Narcooses, always had great food there and great service. There is also the yachtsmans steakhouse which is great and then you can stroll round to Jellyrolls after which is always a great laugh ($10 cover charge for it but definitely worth it)
Another new favourite of ours over the last couple of years is Saana at kidani village. Lovely setting and great food and service.

I would suggest doing a night at Raglan Road at DTD- the food is wonderful and the atmosphere can not be beat! I also would august Citricos in the GF; always have had wonderful service there and they had some really special stuff for the Birthday girl in our group.
