I was wondering if you could share some ideas of what souvineers you've bought in each park.

We are adults (no children) and want to buy at least one thing special in each park. We are already planning new hooded sweatshirts and new pajamas, so I guess please share your non-clothes related items unless it's something really different.

Looking forward to hearing about what you guys have purchased lately!

good...what DOESNT disney have in terms of souveniers

how much do you want to spend?
do you want a fav character??
for the house??
to wear??

heres some stuff i got & gave

framed art
pastel portrait (in the past)
pens
etched glass frame
mickey ear earrings
cups/mugs
golf balls
hats
kitchenware

there is SO much...it all depends on what you see & what you like...but you will find out fast you will LOVE everything!!!

I usually get a crystal piece with an etched drawing on it (make any sense?)
and kitchen stuff. You can't forget the Christmas decorations. My dh usually gets a hat or golf stuff. I keep telling dh that jewelry would be a great memory for me but doesn't get it. LOL

Hah, I know theres a ton! I'm just so indecisive, I thought I'd check with you guys to see if there was anything cool in particular you have bought.

Favorite characters-definately Winnie the Pooh characters and Snow White are my favorites. DBF likes Grumpy.

I guess I"m interested in art prints and house stuff-though small house stuff cuz we are moving across the country in September. or maybe a Christmas ornament? Something memorable to remind us of our first WDW trip together

I like "classic Disney" stuff if that makes any sense.

One thing we are planning to do (if we can find it) is get our portraits sketched. My mom had this done for my DB and I when we were young (late 1970's/early 80's)-I think in the MK somewhere or maybe Epcot?

DTD will be your Mecca for art & stuff for the house!!!!

as for the sketch...there was a woman at the GF doing pastels, but she told us it was a 6mth wait!!!! & to leave a picture.....if you want to REALLY make it memory...hire disney photograpy & do a photoshoot...you can even get them done in the parks(ticket required)
I did a shoot with family at YC

What's this etched crystal piece? Do you have a pic? I'm curious.
Yes, we definately want to buy one special ornament-would you suggest buying in Epcot (I've heard Germany has some neat ones) or the store in DTD? Or are there other stores on site w/cool ornaments?

Any stores in particular to check out for some real classic Disney World stuff?

SIX MONTH WAIT??

Oh no! Does that mean we have to call and make a reservation for this or something? We would prefer to do it in the parks if we could, just cuz we are not staying at the GF and dont want to take too much time away.

In the parks: do you mean we need just a regular park ticket or we need a special ticket to get the portrait? We have park hoppers.

It's just the two of us and we'd like one sketch of the both of us. Oh, I'll be so bummed if we have to make a ressie for this...DBF will never agree if we do-he'll think its not worth it to have to schedule it.

Wow, back in the day my mom just walked us up to the booth and we got it done!

How about a charm bracelet for you? My DD and I each have a sterling silver charm bracelet and add a special charm each time we visit. I have a charm that represents each park, and then have added favorite characters and a mickey mouse charm with each kid's birthstone in it. I usually get lots of compliments on mine.

yep...6mths...we did this in 1997 when we got married at WL & she did it on the spot...see
IMG_0560.jpg

so we wanted to do one in dec for our 10yr, but NO girl at WL & the only one we saw was at GF & she said to leave a picture & it takes about 6mths...unfortunately we passed....there was a rumor there was one at the beach club, but we never made it there
they do drawings in the parks, but they are those charactures.
as for the photo shoot...you need a "regular" ticket...so your hopper would work...let me warn you...the photos dont come cheap, but they are worth EVERY penny IMO...i still have the email with prices & info if you want me to forward it to you...just PM me with your email!!

I have some "personal tradition" souvenirs that I buy whenever I go (ironically most seem to revolve around Epcot...LOL)...and most don't have Disney type "stuff" on them.

Kimono from Japan
Wine from Germany and/or France
Tea from Ireland and/or England
Crystal wine glasses (I collect sets of 2) - I've puchased them in a number of places; DTD, Germany, MK (one set did have little etched Mickey head shapes all over them..very cute).
Home decor items from all over the World Showcase (Morocco is a fab spot for this type of thing if you like something out of the ordinary).

Other items I've picked up before;
Espresso set (don't recall where I bought it...probably DTD, Italy, or MK), that is red, white and green with black Mickey head shapes at the bottom of the glass on the inside.
Lace items from Ireland (beautiful lace work all over their shops...or at least there was the last time I was there....been awhile).

I can't think of a thing from Disney Studios or AK that I've bought before. How odd... LOL

Incidentally....it is just DH and I in my household as well.

I always look for a new pin. Last visit I think I bought a new christmas Eeyore, christmas t-shirt and a frame. Unfortunately I really don't indulge in the really expensive gifts. The artwork is always nice though, especially if they have a featured artist there to autograph it for you. Can't go right now, my pass is blacked out for a few more days! Rats!

On our four recent trips, DW made it a point to buy a framed print of the resort where we stayed. Our home office now has a wall that we call the "dream wall". Sometimes I stare at the prints, remember the good times and dream of a future trip.....

**What a beautiful drawing-thanks for sharing!!
Looks like were gonna skip the portraits-we only wanted to do it if we could get it done right there. No interest in the photo shoots for this trip anyways.

**What about the sillhouette pictures? When I was younger they did these custom sillhouette pics... I want to say the artists were located on Main Street but I'm not sure if that's correct.

Anyone know if those are still available??

Great idea! I'm assuming these are sold in the resort stores?

**Ooh great ideas!!
-How did you get the wine home?
-Ireland? Didn't know they sold stuff from there-UK store I assume? DBF's brother collects teas-maybe we'll get him some.

I can't see myself finding anything interesting to buy at DHS. This will be our first trip to DAK and I love African decor, maybe there will be a neat store there.

**Do they sell artwork of Main Street and the other areas of MK? Are they expensive?

In the Disney stores they will box the wine bottles up and they are usually tall cushioned boxes. I actually brought them home in my suitcase the last time. BUT, this time I might consider having them shipped home directly from the store (which they now do...they didn't do that the last time I was there). You will pay shipping on it....but, if you have it shipped directly from the store you will not pay FL state sales tax (that is true for anything you buy and ship from any of the Disney stores)

And yes...the items from Ireland were sold in the UK section of World Showcase. I tend to forget that because there was one store there that was most definitely predominately Irish products.

For DBF's brother, there is a shop in U.K. that sells all kinds of tea and tea related accessories....according to wdwinfo.com it's called The Tea Caddy

Well I love my mousepad :lovestruc our favorite is the caricature (sp) we got in April when we went without our 13 and 16 year old sons! :woohoo:

I purchase a coffee mug on every vacation.

When we were at WDW in September, this was my goal as well. We had a shortage of coffee cups at our house, and I didn't have any that were specifically "mine".

My favorite characters are Eeyore and Donald Duck. In the Pooh store next to the Pooh ride in MK I found a beautiful lavender cup - tallish and sort of fluted. It has an Eeyore scene on it, he is is sitting in a field of flowers and the wind is blowing... his ears and tail and the flowers are blowing in the breeze. On the inside lip of the mug it says "Another blustery day".

In the Mexico pavillion in Epcot, I found a 3 Caballeros mug. It looks sort of old-fashioned, almost like an old movie poster. It says 3 Caballeros on one side, and has Donald and his buddies on a flying carpet against a starlit sky on the other side. This was an AWESOME find for me, as I simply LOVE that movie.

My other most treasured souvenier was a watch. I needed a new watch, but had held off buying one at home because I wanted an official "Disney world" one. I looked at watches in every store we went in, but finally found one I really liked at MouseGears. It has a black leather band and a white face, and a row of tiny golden Mickey heads move around the face to mark the seconds. It doesn't have numbers, but tiny golden studs mark each of the numbers' places. I LOVE my watch.

My DH always collects shot glasses. I sort of make fun of him, because he doesn't drink (!!), but he loves to collect them anyway. He says they are small, usually pretty cheap, and make a good, display-able way to commerate where he has been.
