Are kids allowed in the adult pools at all? I am just wondering if the adult pools get as nasty as I keep hearing the kids pools get.

The pool and the surrouding area is reserved for 18 and older. It is posted everywhere and never saw any kids in the pool. I don't think the adults in the area would stand for it.

Kids are not allowed in the adult pools. Sometimes they get in though. If everyone keeps the kids out of the adult pools, then they shouldn't get as bad as the kids pools!

Kids are not allowed for sure. On the last cruise I was on, I watched two mothers bring their teenage daughters and encouraged them to swim, almost daring the staff to tell them they couldn't swim in the adult pool. Within 5 minutes two officers and another staff member came to talk to both parents and it actually got into a heated argument. At the end of it all the teenagers had to come out.

I thought this was so sad that these mothers were actually telling their children that it was ok not to worry about rules. Of course the fact that the two ladies were intoxicated din't help.

didnt see any on our cruise. dh and I enjoyed hanging out over there. there was no wind and it was so quiet..

I have actually seen kids tell their parents, "But this is the adult pool!" when they encourage them to go in. I applaud Disney for enforcing the rules, even when some guests get very rude.
But it's not just kids that get nasty stuff in the water. We were once in the hot tub and saw Mr. Cigar wading around the pool with his girlfriend and flicking the ashes right in. Ugh!

Honestly, on our two cruises the kids were in the Mickey pool in both the morning & afternoon almost every day. We even sat on the edge in the water a few days. We never saw any "nasty" water in the pool. They had to drain the pool once the first cruise due to a child throwing up but I guess we lucked out and everyone was PTd who went in the pool those weeks. It could also have something to do with the waves we experienced too.

I have no problem with teenagers using the adult pools as long as they are conducting themselves like adults. Screw the rules.

Dont teenagers have their own pool? It seems to me that they are not little kids anymore so they shouldnt have to swim with little tiny kids in a kids pool and they are not quite adults either, usually a little louder and more rambuncious than adults prefer.

Right on! The rules are for other people! :rotfl2:

Rules are for the people who can not operate without them. ie They are not able to exercise enough judgement without them.

That is patently rediculous.

Who, pray tell, gets to decide which people don't have to observe the rules? You? :rotfl:

To be honest with you, my 17 year old and his 17 year old gf were in the adult pool and jacuzzi's with no problems. They knew they had to behave but they are only months away from 18 anyway. Would I have allowed them if they were 15, 16 or just turned 17?.....no I wouldnt have. The family pool is normally overcrowded with kids from what 7 - 17? I am generally a rule follower but in this case I didnt. I dressed up for dinner, I didnt call a fake bingo, I didnt scream in the hallways after 10pm (or any other time), but to allow two very mature almost 18 year olds in the adult pool was ok with me. These kids are allowed a drivers license and a job so I allowed them to swim where the adults do. Thats all :teeth:

Nope, kids aren't allowed. I think the staff is doing a much better job at policing it lately, which is nice. I wish they would crackdown on the number of rowdy teens using the jacuzzi's at night though. On our most recent cruise there were two nights where we couldn't find a single hot tub that wasn't being occupied by some rowdy teenagers jumping in and out, and running around like banshees.

As far as the "nastiness" of the other two pools, the only thing I noticed is really cloudy water, but I think it's due to the sunscreen everyone has on while they're in the pools. I think the pools are treated with chlorine though. At least I thought I smelled chlorine.

Speaking of the pools, has anyone noticed a problem with the jacuzzi's? On our last cruise when we finally did fine one to relax in, the water was barely warm. They were all like that. We asked some staff about it and they said that they were fine. I was just wondering if it was just us, or have they really taken the "hot" out of hot tubs?

No, I believe in reaching decisions by concensus and facilitation. Certainly, if no one else felt the same way I did, I would not press the issue. But if you expect a 16 year old to grow up you can not force them to go play with the 12 year olds. If that same 16 year old is willing to exhibit adult behavior they should be welcome in an adult area. Either that or they will continue to act as if they are 12. As for rules, they usually exist to make someone's life easier not for any practical or safety related issue.

And by the way your spelling is patently ridiculous. Try spellcheck if you are going to try and use big words while mocking peole.

How right you are. Darn that "e" instead of "i" thing...what was I thinking?! BTW you forgot the "p" in "people". Or was that your way of making a point? I guess in your paralell universe I would not be one of the chosen few who doesn't have to follow rules.

No offense to anyone, but I couldn't care less if your well-behaved 16 year-old is in the adult pool (since I don't even go to that pool.) So it's useless to argue that point with me.

My problem is with the "screw the rules" comment. I'd like to see you "reach decisions by concensus and facilitation" on a ship with 2500 people, each of whom have different ideas on what is acceptable or not. Good luck.

I totally agree with you Ariel. I would not even want to cruise if there were not rules. Without rules and laws there would be total Chaos! :scared: That's just the way it is. It's been proven to be true time and time again. 'Nuff said.
