Adult pool lovers like me, are you insanely disappointed with the Wish's design??

This exact topic is why I went from being certain I was booking a Wish cruise for next summer to being on the fence. We travel as a couple without kids so I'm not sure this ship is right for me, after seeing the renderings.

We're booked on the Maiden but don't take that to mean we like the pool renderings. The Splashpad area looks half baked, Quiet Cove looks way too small for the size of the ship, and I'm not sold on the new dining venues. Unless this cruise thoroughly wows us, we will most likely stick to the Wonder and Magic...which we seem to do any how. Even the prices on the Magic / Wonder are making us try Royal next summer in lieu of another Disney cruise. It's just getting too expensive for what you get.

I was relieved to find this thread! I thought I was the only Disney fan wrought with disappointment over the small adult pool and itty-bitty surrounding area! .......and I have no desire to eat with the Avengers either! This ship isn't feeling like the place for an adults only couple like us, but I'm sure Disney will have no problems filling the ship without our demographic.

To the OP...... in an earlier post, you mentioned Celebrity. I'm a convert, and kicking it up a notch for us is Aqua class! There is an adult pool and area, but it is indoors. It's a nice size pool on the Solstice class ships (we've not sailed Millennium or Edge series yet to compare......had them booked but were among our cancelled trips over recent months......). I haven't come to terms with how I feel about the indoor pool/solarium experience - sometimes I like it and other times I do not. Still lots of loungers outdoors, and from my experience and what I keep hearing, the children to adult ratio is pretty low. Aqua class - with having an adult only dinning room for breakfast and dinner which is more intimate and relaxed - is a HUGE selling point over DCL for us!!!!

If the only thing your really wanted on a ship was a decent size adult only pool, some of Royal's ships have an outdoor solarium pool to fit the bill, but we prefer Celebrity for the overall experience. It may have been the luck of our sailing, but once on a Royal Oasis class ship, we found the pools emptied out about 5. Every night for a week, we had one of the pools all to ourselves for a couple of hours, before we got ready to go to dinner. That was an incredible experience especially considering the size of the ship!

We certainly miss the Disney vibe of not being on a DCL ship, but we are learning we sail for the ocean experience and relaxation - not to feel like we are in a theme park. I feel like the Wish skews theme park....maybe once videos and reviews hit the internet next year, I'll change my mind.....

It almost makes me wonder if they were TOO successful with the adult market and they felt they could make more money by catering more to families. After all, a room with a family of 4 or 5 people has the potential for more money than the same room with 2 adults—you still have adults in the room to shell out on upcharge dining, spa, drinks etc but then with kids you also have more people booking port adventures, tea parties, bippity boutique, gift shop toys, family photos etc.

I watched a show on Discovery channel recently that actually got into the main reason cruise ship pools can't be any bigger, at least on the top decks. Weight. You don't want a top heavy ship in rough seas. And there is added weight because of the support needed under the pool. That does make sense because the older ships I have cruised on, like the Norway, had their larger pools indoors on the lowest public deck. We often were the only people in that pool. Of course the Norway was the France and was built as a transatlantic crossing ship, not sure you would want to be outside in a pool on that type cruise. Although we have always used the outdoor on our Alaska cruises.

Looks like new information was released today about the adult areas on the Wish…

Still not thrilled about the pool area…they released they are having outdoor space for the rainforest room…so they are using valuable space on the top deck to generate revenue instead of having adequate lounge space for adults to sit at a pool. The quiet cove on the Magic looks like a Olympic size pool compared to the renderings for the Wish. I am booked on the Maiden but it might be a one and done…My DH is already giving me trouble about possible protocols..and the fact it is a non refundable deposit..I know it is 11 months from now but a year ago I never thought we would be in the situation we are in now.

I was pleased that there is a piano bar, a pub and very excited for Star Wars Bar if we can get into it.

The whole Palo situation boggles my mind…all of a sudden it revolves around Beauty and the Beast and France but for over 20 years it’s been a northern Italian restaurant???

When i watched the video, it looked to me like the adult area was way more than the pool/tubs at the back. If you look at the chair colors along both sides of the back end, the area where the previous poster's picture shows of the little pool, it looks like - in addition to the back pool/tub area - there are other small pools and sections that are all adult only. If you look forward of the square pool that's circled, you'll see another hot tub. Unless I'm wrong, I thought that the tan colored loungers are adult only areas, which these seem to be, and blue loungers are for all ages. My impression was that the adult only area was very large, with the best part being the pool/tub at back that they highlight in the video.

I hope you are right…

The outside rainforest area looks to me like its in the very front of the ship and not taking away anything that we've had in the past. In the reflection in the glass above the area in the video you can see the front most part of the ship. I don't believe we've had access up there in the past right?

You are correct. Same area as CM pool on Magic and Wonder and outdoor area for Vibe on Fantasy and Dream.

If you really aren’t happy with the Wish then sail on the other ships. I can guarantee they won’t be changing things up from the current design. I would expect the next ship to be similar to the Wish.

When i watched the video,

Nope its the two hot tubs, two pools, two showers. Essentially its possibly equivalent to the lower Adult area on deck 11 on Fantasy and then you miss out completely on the falls.

I'm hoping it's more than just the back portion. If you look along the sides, you can see another small pool, and further along a hot tub. All the chairs along the sides look to be tan, so I'm hoping this is all adult only too.20210729_191745.jpg

The top and bottom arrows I think might be to a crew specific area not a guest area but I could be wrong. When you go to the Wish interactive plans there is not even footprint outlined there for possibly adding more in the future. Scroll all the way to bottom of the page and look at decks 13/14/15. So it would seem weird to completely add an area to their plans compared to what they are doing elsewhere where they simply don't describe things.

The right arrow is a little water area in the vicinity of the AquaMouse so not sure its a tiny pool almost like a pool you would jump in prior to getting in a actual pool.

The pool doesn’t appear to be any smaller than the one on the Dream and Fantasy and on those ships it’s also directly adjacent to the Cove Cafe.

Have you actually sailed on either the Fantasy or Dream? There is no comparison between the adult pool on those pools and the Wish. Yes, the Dream's adult pool is literally packed on sea days, but it held upwards of 50 or so people. The Wish? According to the picture, it barely fits these 2 people. And yes, on the Dream its next to the Cove Cafe, but there is a true pool area, with tons of lounges surrounding it. I don't see one single lounger on the Wish for adults to relax on. I don't get it. Its like the adult pool section on the Wish is an after thought, or rather, no thought at all. So very disappointed.

I really hate to poke the bear here, but you are literally discrediting this based on an artists rendering of what the space is going to look like instead of waiting to see the actual size and scope of the area and the pools once the ship is done.

If I think about the Magic, the deck area behind Palo is HUGE and in my opinion, very much a waste of space. I would be surprised if the adult pool area is much smaller than the ones on the Dream/Fantasy, it will probably be the same size.

Also: How much "swimming" do you do? If you were looking for a lap pool, a cruise ship isn't the right place.
