I was relieved to find this thread! I thought I was the only Disney fan wrought with disappointment over the small adult pool and itty-bitty surrounding area! .......and I have no desire to eat with the Avengers either! This ship isn't feeling like the place for an adults only couple like us, but I'm sure Disney will have no problems filling the ship without our demographic.
To the OP...... in an earlier post, you mentioned Celebrity. I'm a convert, and kicking it up a notch for us is Aqua class! There is an adult pool and area, but it is indoors. It's a nice size pool on the Solstice class ships (we've not sailed Millennium or Edge series yet to compare......had them booked but were among our cancelled trips over recent months......). I haven't come to terms with how I feel about the indoor pool/solarium experience - sometimes I like it and other times I do not. Still lots of loungers outdoors, and from my experience and what I keep hearing, the children to adult ratio is pretty low. Aqua class - with having an adult only dinning room for breakfast and dinner which is more intimate and relaxed - is a HUGE selling point over
DCL for us!!!!
If the only thing your really wanted on a ship was a decent size adult only pool, some of Royal's ships have an outdoor solarium pool to fit the bill, but we prefer Celebrity for the overall experience. It may have been the luck of our sailing, but once on a Royal Oasis class ship, we found the pools emptied out about 5. Every night for a week, we had one of the pools all to ourselves for a couple of hours, before we got ready to go to dinner. That was an incredible experience especially considering the size of the ship!
We certainly miss the Disney vibe of not being on a DCL ship, but we are learning we sail for the ocean experience and relaxation - not to feel like we are in a theme park. I feel like the Wish skews theme park....maybe once videos and reviews hit the internet next year, I'll change my mind.....
