We are staying at VWL and I was just wondering where I can something to drink in the room. (Wine, beer, etc.) Is there a groocery service that can deliver? Is there a place onsite? Do I just pack it in my suitcase? :drinking1

Drinks are not cheap on property. I think $4 or $5 per single 12oz. $20 for a six pack. I like to of have fell out when I saw their prices. I would recommend stopping by a gas station or other.

The WL has a store off the lobby - I think it is the Wilderness Lodge Merchantile - with drinks, snacks and some food of more substance. It is item number 4 on the map: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/wildlodge.htm

You can also arrange for certain groceries to deliver for a fee and a minimum order ($50 last time I checked). Two popular ones are gardengrocer.com and goodings.com. I've never used them but others on the disboards have.

I found the wine and champagne prices (under $20.00!) very reasonable (in DW dollars) at the Mercantile in the WL lobby. I was "stuck" with a 2 year old last March during the East Coast ice storm, and the bartenders took pity on me when I rolled in with baby in stroller. They made me a "Momma Juice" special to go, to help ease the pain of 3 extra days in DW :-)

www.wegoshop.com- Marge will get anything you need over $50.00. She will shop at the store of your choice. We did this our last trip and it was great. She has everything in a big cooler and just brings it right up to your room!

Another vote for wegoshop.com and Marge. She is very nice to work with ( have used her for almost all our trips.) We always order adult beverages through her. I didn't think she had a min order amount but I could be wrong as we would never have any trouble making it---12 days at BCV. :)

Oh, yes, we enjoy a cocktail or two while at Disney, thats why we go there, you can drink just about anywhere at anytime, that being said, not at Disney's prices, way too high especially the lounges and bars. We have a car service pick us up and we hit a grocery store with an alcohol store right next door enroute to the World. If we ever made the trip without the stop, we would definetely do the grocery delivery, gardengrocer etc. WE like to have a supply of wine, beer and a fifth of Jack plus soda to kick back with and nothing more pleasing than returning from a park, hot and sweaty, and grab a few cold beers and head to the pool knowing you didn't pay 5 bucks apiece for them. We also head to the pool late at night, few guests then and have a few glasses of wine, plastic cups, and enjoy the Disney night.

I alway felt that if Disney didn't charge so much, I don't begrudge them making a little profit, more drinks would be bought instead of hauled in but they don't seem to care about outside delivery at all but I guess there are alot of guests that like to hit the lounges with their room charge and pay the 8-10 bucks for a mixed drink so why not hit them big. Their gain, your loss but we prefer to haul in all the supplies we're going to consume for our stay.

A lot of DVC members use greengrocer.com There is a twelve dollar delivery charge but you go on there site and pick out what you want. They deliver right to your resort. You have to pick them up in the lobby. There are a few more out there but this one seems to be the most popular. We usually rent points at a dvc so we have used this one and had good luck with it.

Don't knock it but a box of wine in the suitcase goes a long way at Disney World. One big five liter in the middle of the suitcase or two 3 liters on each side and you are set.

Nope - never done that at all. Nope, never. Ever. Never. Well, OK all the time.

We went last august and brought 2 big bottles wine-kalhua and vodka, juiceboxes and 2 24 pkgs of bottled water.

we put in bubble wrap-only the wine was a glass container and put them in 2 boxes from staples.
We duct taped them.
we put the address of the hotel with our names on it and checked it in like luggage. they did go through them-they put a note inside-they will ask you what is in there too---got there no problems

going again in may-will do the same-probably won't take as much water.
wish they didn't soak you for a beer though.

Thanks so much for the great tips guys. Will ME pick up a box and deliver it to us for check in??? Now that would be great. I think I may have to do a combo of things! We are 4 adults traveling and will be able to knock back more than a couple bottles of wine for our trip. I may need an extra suitcase. Since I am staying in a villa and have laundry we'll just pack less clothes!

If you can check it through via your airline, Magical Express will take care of the rest. My family has shipped through bottled water this way.

There are certain restrictions on shipping through alcohol with certain airlines though, so be sure to check with your carrier.

Just an FYI on gardergrocer. I went on their site and did not see any beer or wine and I e mailed them. They actually don't stock it but will pick up what you need/want and deliver it with the groceries. The only catch is you need to know exactly what you need.....I like to browse the wine isle at the store and choose.

we take our own stuff to drink dh brings 12 pack (we drive) and i take a bottle of premixed pina colada...BUT this time we will not be doing this because we are staying club level....free beer for dh and night caps for me and we dont have to bring it this time.....great reason to stay club level
