Ads in the middle of a thread when logged in

This happened a few months ago and then stopped. It's happening again now. I thought you only saw ads in the middle of threads if were not logged in.

What gives?

I've noticed the ads yesterday and today on my phone. Yesterday I didn't notice it on my laptop - though maybe I didn't access the DIS on my laptop much yesterday -- but today on my laptop I'm seeing "blanks" where I assume an ad would be placed (but not seeing the ad).

I'm seeing the blanks as well. I would see add, but I use Blur, which prevents tracking cookies.

I came here to see if anyone else is having this issue.

I have Air Canada adds throughout the threads when logged in.

Which is hilarious based on Pete’s AC rant on the Podcast a few weeks ago.

I'm seeing the blank space after post #9 on threads at least that long. That's where an ad would be, but I have an adblocker.

I can't address whether that blank space has always been there or not.

I'm not getting any ads on this forum.

This is the second time in sixth months this has happened. Maybe they need more revenue and have turned it on for everybody, which is fine, whatever, but an announcement would have been nice.

I'm getting a blank space in the middle of threads that have more than 9 posts. If I turn off Blur (which prevents 3rd party cookie tracking) I would see ads.

1. If you don't use an adblocker you will see the ad.
2. These are ads that used to only appear if you weren't logged in.

So, the question becomes: Was this changed on purpose?

When I'm not logged in, the only ad I see is after post #3 and it's a DIS ad. No other ads.
When I'm logged in there's no ad (or blank space) after post #3, but there's a blank space after post #9. No ad.

That's with an adblocker (AdBlockerPlus).

As long as there no ads, I'm good.

I am also curious about this phenomenon. I do remember in the past when there were issues and the ads appeared despite log in and then it went away. I continue to see ads throughout the posts despite being logged in, e.g., on this page:

I've been wondering about this too. For the past few weeks I regularly (always?) see ads now in the middle of threads while logged in. Just a minute ago a video popped up, moved my entire screen to the bottom of the thread, and proceeded to play, very loudly. That was kind of the last straw that brought me to post here. What's going on? I thought being logged in was supposed to stop ads from showing?

Just noticed a "speaker" symbol on one of the other open tabs for this site while I was typing this. Yet another video has appeared at the bottom of a Dis boards page, playing audio as well as video. Video that automatically starts blasting in your ear is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. I don't have an ad blocker but maybe I'll have to get one now.

I haven't seen any of those loud videos since I last posted, but the ads are a regular occurrence, so I guess that's the norm now.
