Okay, I can't find this anywhere, so forgive me if it's a repeat question.
We are going to WDW in Jan '09!!! :cool1: My MIL, FIL, BIL, SIL, and DN's are going as well, but insist on staying offiste (at least for now). I can make 180 + 10 ADRs on 7/25, but they will want to eat at least some of the character meals with us. Obviously, they won't have DDP, so can I make ADRs for 180 + 10 if they are in our party or do I have to call back each day at the 180 mark?
TIA for any help you can give.

I don't see why you couldn't call and get an ADR for your total # of people. If you call and book for you and then try to add them later, they would cancel your original reservation (for 2) and then try to book you for your new one (7/8?). You wouldn't get any special treatment on getting the table for 8 just because you already had a table for 2.

By the way, you don't need the DDP to make ADRs, anyone can whether they are staying off property or not. The +10 is for those with resort reservations, which you have.

if you are staying on property you get the 180+10. and you can make your ADrs for as many people as you like, they dont have to be styaing with you. but if you are on the dining plan and they arent, i dont think you can make ADRs together. im fairly certain everyone at the table has to be on the same type of ticket if using the DDP.
and you cant double book, you run the risk of them canceling your ADRs.

if it were me i would call to make the ADRs and explain to the person that you would actually like to book 2 tables one on the dining plan the other isnt, but they will kost likely tell you no.

oh and the reason you cant all sit together and half of you use the DDP is because they arent going to try to figure out who ate what.

Wow! Does anyone know if this is true for sure? (Not doubting you, jellybeans, just looking for confirmation.) That is really going to foul up our plans with the in-laws! Wonder if this could convince them to stay on site?:rolleyes1

when you call to make the ADRs they ask specifically if you are on the DDP. i really dont think you can say, well 4 of us are but the other 6 arent.

ok maybe im wrong, i guess it was bound to happen. i just read the everything you need to know about the dining plan post and it says everyone at the table doesnt have to be on the same DDP.
but when making the ADRs, i would certainly mention it.

Not all guests need to be on the DP, but you have to tell the server up front so he separates the checks....

Thanks, jelly. I read that post, but didn't see it mentioned...Guess I skimmed too fast! :)
I actually went ahead and called 407-WDW-DINE and asked about it. The nice CM told me that we don't all have to be on DDP to sit together and that I can make ADRs at 180 days + 10 for all of us, since I am staying onsite! Yah!!!! :goodvibes
Thanks for all your responses.

Anyone staying onsite can call and make their 180 + 10 ADRs for as many people as they like, whether everyone in the party is on the DDP or not. There is no reason to get two separate reservations. It is not a big deal at all and the server will just bring two separate tickets.

There is enough fighting in this world or is it? Why bicker about something minor like this? If another posted the same thing who cares? I don't. Does it matter? If you want to flame me go ahead I really don't care but it is really silly if you really think about it :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Really, I should read through an entire thread before I post? Thanks for the great info, I guess I haven't picked that up in the last year I've been posting on this board. Also, since when is it a bad thing to be given good info more than once? Goodness knows there was enough bad info shared on this thread.

Wholeheartly agree :goodvibes

LOL Totally agreeing with you here!! I would MUCH rather read the correct info 20x than read totally incorrect info even once when it comes to informing newer DISers and guests to WDW. :thumbsup2

NOT correct. Wrong.

NOT correct. Wrong. We (and everybody else) do it all the time.

There are limitations on how many people various restaurants can seat at one table, but how you are paying for the meal (DDP or not) has NOTHING to do with your reservations.

Okay I'll answer your question from personal experience....

My family (me, dh, dd & ds) traveled to WDW in December and stayed on property. FOUR out of our EIGHT dinners were at on site resorts where my MIL, stepFIL, BIL and SIL joined us. MIL and stepFIL live locally and prefer not to pay to go into the parks if they don't have to.

We ate at Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Fare, Boatwrights and Whispering Canyon Cafe. My family was on the DDP and the ILs paid OOP (we picked up the tab at one of the dinners).

This really wasn't a problem at all. When I made my ADRs I didn't even mention that some of the party wasn't on DDP, we did mention it to our server before ordering. At the end of the meal our server would bring out separate checks.

Thank you. That's what I thought too!
