ADRs with Disney vs Open Table

We have ADRs for Jaleo with Disney. I wanted to get an earlier than 9:15pm ADR then I remembered Open Table handles this restaurant as well. Open Table has tons of available times. Is there a difference in which reservation system we utilize? We realize an authentic tapas restaurant dining time in Spain would be 9pm at the earliest but we prefer dining earlier 😉

We book as many of our Disney ADRs as possible via Open Table. We like the flexibility of being able to cancel day-of and HATE Disney's enforced $10pp no-show policy! We've never noticed any difference in service, attitude, etc.

This! Just be aware that SOME (Raglan Road is the main one I've seen) will have a CC guarantee on Open Table too.

thank you both for responding. I will cancel the Disney ADRs at keep the Open Table ones!

The restaurants that take reservations on OpenTable actually prefer that you do it that way, for a few reasons.
1. Disney sends them a list once a day of people who have reserved through them. If people make last-minute reservations through Disney, the restaurant often doesn’t know.
2. Non-Disney-owned/operated locations only have to allot a certain percentage of their capacity to the Disney reservation system.

We always use Open Table when we can. For some of the Disney Springs restaurants that use it you can make reservations before they are even available on MDE. I've already made reservations for a December trip as well as a January one on Open Table. It's makes for less ADR's I'm trying to snag on MDE when my booking window opens.

Are any restaurants on OpenTable besides the ones at Disney Springs? Thank you!

This is exactly why we open table as well. We really wanted to make sure we got Shula’s for our Anniversary, so we did it through open table before Disney ADR’s we’re even open.

Thanks for this tip! I had no idea open table was an option.

Not just Open Table, but other restaurants like The Boathouse use other reservation services outside of MDE that allow you to reserve well before the 60 day MDE window. For many of the non-Disney owned restaurants, it's definitely worth going directly though their websites to book reservations to beat the MDE 60 day window

I had no problem booking Raglan Road for Veterans Day evening a few weeks ago ... note that Veteran's day is Friday 11/11, so a Friday Holiday weekend night that is not available yet on MDE, but you can book on Open Table. When it open's on MDE it will probably book up fast!

For Disney springs I always use open table. They seem to always have way better times and most don’t have the no same day cancellation so I like the flexibility

Definitely use OpenTable if it's available. Almost everywhere in Disney Springs uses it (Homecomin is the one big exception I know of).

Another benefit of OpenTable is earning points which can be redeemed for dining and other rewards.

It’s not hard to cancel Disney reservations day off either. All you do is modify it to a reservation 1 day later then cancel. I did it 3 or 4 times in August
