I should know this but I don't. I seem to remember that if one is staying in a DVC unit, we rented points for a BoardWalk stay this Oct, that you get to make dining ressies before the 180 day mark. When I called today for a California Grill ADR the recording said I was beyond 180 days, try later. Did I imagine the >180 day thing or do I have to get a human on the line to do this?

Thanks,

Hi Bill,
Sorry it is only 180 days out. I wish like you I could book sooner but no luck. I set a countdown on my Iphone so I am ready to go as soon as possible. Enjoy

Thanks, Heidi, my fevered imagination must be getting the better of me again.

The key point many people seem to miss is:

Every person, regardless of whether they live in the Orlando area, stay offsite, stay onsite....all have the ability to call (or book online) exactly 180 days before the day they want to dine.

The confusion is the +10 for Disney resort guests. Anyone with a Disney resort reservation (including DVC) can link that to the dining system for the ability to make dining reservations for the rest of their stay (up to 10 days). DVC renters have a Disney resort reservation. The DVC member offering the rental has to provide that reservation number to their renter.

That's what I was remembering, or mis-remembering. I recall having to give the DVC ressie number to the person taking my ADRs ona previous BW stay, but I couldn't recall why or if it bought me any time. So I'll call180 days out and I'll be able to book for all our ADRs for the 7 days, not wait for each day's 180 day threshold.

You never get to make reservations before 180 days, DVC or no DVC . You can, however, get the +10 for resort guests, but that starts running on the day that is 180 days out from your first vacation day, not before.
