Hello, this may be a silly question, but can I do this?

We have a large party going in Nov. but we want to wait to see if any discounts cone up through Orbitz. So, one option is to book all rooms in order to make our 180 +10 ADRs and then cancel and rebook once discounts come out. OR, just book one room for my mom (who will be arriving one day earlier) and use her room Ressie to book our 180 +10 ADRs.

My question is will the rest of the party be on the ADRs if we just do it under my moms room, or do we need to have everyone's rooms booked?

You don't need a resort reservation to book an ADR. You will have to book one day at a time at 180 days out.

Right, I understand that anyone can book at 180 days. But, I'm asking about 180 +10. If my mom books her room can she make the +10 Ressies for more people than are on her room reservation. I'm assuming she can, but just want to make sure.

Yes, as long as the person making the reservation has a resort stay, you can include anyone you want in the dining party.

Thank goodness for that! I have to make ADR's or 8, but I am only positive about 5 of us so far.

It does not matter who is in her resort room. She could book an ADR for 12 people with a resort reservation for 2 guests or no resort reservation at all. The ADR and dining guests are not connected to the resort room in any way at all.

I've done this many times for groups of 8, 10, and 12. You'll have no problems. :cool1:

If you/your mom make the ADRs over the phone, they don't even ask who is dining--just how many adults/kids/infants (if they even ask that).

If you make them online, you will be asked exactly who is dining. Be sure you've linked with the other guests' My Disney Experience accounts in advance. If they don't have accounts yet, make their profiles (just name/age) to add them as friends and family. It's a waste of time to have to do this on ADR day.

Good luck getting all the ADRs you want!

You might want to book 2 people to the room and have access to 2 MDE accounts. When I was booking ADR's a few weeks ago for our party of 11, there were some availability issues. I tried to split up the group to have 2 groups at the same restaurant at the same time, but it wouldn't let me do that with only my MDE account. So I quickly had to make an MDE account for my DH to be able to get everyone in our party a seat. This was an issue at H&V F! and BOG ppo.

Thanks everyone for the advice!! The last time I stayed on property there were just 3 of us and we were all arrivin at the same time n And, we were waiting for Free Dining so I just booked the room, made the ADRs, then rebooked once Free Dining came out. This time it's a little more complicated. So, I appreciate the tips!

Just wanted to clarify this though. I was asking specifically about the ability to book 180 days +10 days out all in one sitting (on the date of 180 out.) Am I incorrect that this is a benefit only available to Resort Guests with a room booked?

You are correct--booking 180+10 on the 180th day out IS a benefit only for resort guests with a room booked. As long as someone in your dining party has a room booked, they'll be able to make the ADRs for all of you, with them as the lead guest.
