My family (me, husband, and 2 children) is going to WDW in February. My parents are meeting us for a few days. My foursome will be staying at WL on the DDP. My parents will stay off site through a timeshare. Our 180 day window opens Monday. Will I be able to make reservations for 6? For the length of my trip? Combining DP and no dining plan? Obviously we want to have dinner with my parents. (It would be so much easier if my parents would just stay at WL, but it makes more sense for them to stay through their timeshare).

Related question: We are doing an in room celebration for my kids' fifth birthday. Will my parents be able to come to the resort to see the kids get their surprise? Can we out their name on a list or something? Obviously, they won't be using any amenities. Just enjoying the grandkids' big surprise. They may also babysit for us one night.

Yes you can make reservations for more than are on your room reservation.

Yes your parents can visit in at the resort, with their car. They will just tells the guard why they are there and show ID. It's no problem.

you can book your ADR'S for as many as you need it will ask if your on the dining plan and resort but do not have to use dining plan when you go there. tell server how many on the dining plan and that the others will need seperate bill. We do this all the time as we have family and friends that come up to WDW while we are there. New this year ----say if you book ADR'S for 6 and only 4 show up you will be charged $10 per person that do not show --unless--you cancel 24 hours in advance. and for the signatures it is 48 hours in advance or it will go on your credit card.

Not all restaurants have the $10 cc hold. It's a select list.

This is not correct. You won't be charged if at least part of your group shows up for the reservation. And the cancellation deadline for most of the included restaurants is end of the day before, not 24 or 48 hours. Here is the information in the dining FAQs from the Disney website:

I have a dinner reservation for 10 Guests at a restaurant that uses the credit card guarantee policy. Only 8 Guests are able to make it to dinner. Will I still be charged $10 each for the 2 Guests who were unable to attend?

No. As long as you honor the reservation, then there will be no charge to your credit card.

According to the credit card guarantee policy, I must cancel my reservation at least one day in advance. What does this mean?

At restaurants with the credit card guarantee policy, all cancellations should be made at least 1 day in advance of your reservation. For example: if your reservation is on Thursday, you must cancel your reservation no later than Wednesday end of day. Cancellation fees will be assessed for cancellations made on the day of your reservation

Here's a link to the thread that has a complete explanation of the credit card policy, a list of the restaurants and a link to the complete FAQs including the ones above:

The cancellation policy for CRT, the dinner shows and possibly a couple of the other restaurants on the list is different from $10 per person/end of day before so be sure to read the cancellation policy on every reservation you make so there are no surprises.

As far as making your dining reservations, you'll be able to make them for your entire group. At the restaurant just let your server know who will be using dining credits and who will be paying OOP.
