Why when making ADR's do they insist on counting newborns as a person. I mean my 10 week old will not be taking a seat, a spot or anything of the sort since I will be carrying him in a sling.

I have most of my ADR's made already so its not a big deal but I wanted to add one for early May and I am having a heck of a time getting the time I want because when you count my 10 week old, we are a party of 5 not 4.

I've had other CM's when making my ressies earlier that didn't count my newborn and some are so strict about it.

I know I can always call up and make the ADR for 4 anyway but does anyone know why some are so strict and others are not? :confused3

If someone really wants to strictly obey fire code occupancy maximums for a restaurant, then it could be "legit" to count the baby. As to why the rules overall seem to vary CM to CM is a question, I think, of length of time on the job and training....

I've taken my daughters all when they were newborns and they were always counted, even when I was just holding them! I guess it does have to do with firecodes! I remember we took my 2 year old DD and my then 7 week old dd to WDW and we went to CRt for breafast and they gave me kind of snotty attitude cause the baby wasn't on there just 2 adults and 1 child inder 3! :confused3 I apoligized and explained that I'd be holding the infant but thye said she still had to be counted!

Maybe it is that typically people might have a stroller or baby carrier that the baby will be in and that will be taking up room that they need to account for.
