ADRs and a Cancelled Reservation?

I booked a bunch of reservations on an AKV reservation. I think we are going to cancel that reservation and stay off-site. I called to ask what to do and I was told that cancelling a room reservation has no bearing on the dining reservations. I want to believe that is true but wanted to hear confirmation from those of you with more experience than the sometimes ill-informed CMs

If I cancel my hotel reservation, do my dining reservations cancel with it?

dining reservations need to be cancelled sep. So you should be okay.

Assume you are past your 90 day window on all the reservations? If so, I guess I would just phone WDW-DINE to have the room reservation dropped from the dining reservations. This way you won't have to worry about it.
