ADR, no ADR day

Today is my ADR day, but my adult daughter and I have decided not to make ADRs for our ten day October trip and just eat our main meal of the day at bars, lounges or see what is available when we feel hungry. We normally eat one TS meal a day. We will make an ADR if Monsieur Paul reopens. It is now 8.18 here. I will report back if we succumb and end up making ADRs at 11. Doable?

I do think parties of 2 have an easier chance with day of decisions. My husband and I rarely made ADRs ahead of time and would just open the app around when we wanted to eat.

Yep, doable. We never make ADRs in advance and eat TS often. We are not picky about where and what time. We always have hoppers so park doesn't matter. I have never had any problem finding an ADR day of.

Totally doable and in a lot of ways for us it's preferred. With the onset of G+ and not feeling like planning every single detail, we haven't done any ADRs for the last several trips. We've had some luck with walk up wait lists and booking things while there but not much effort has gone into that and we've been pretty happy with our QS options. Especially at MK and DHS where there are not too many great TS restaurants anyway and we usually use G+ at these two parks so it's hard to plan our meal times when we have zero idea what the Genie will grant us....LOL.

We typically have a dinner ADR booked for every day, and then eat lunch/snacks at the bars and lounges so that our park day isn't centered around a sit down meal. Granted, we do like to eat dinner at a lot of Signature restaurants that we wouldn't be able to just be able to just "wing it" and get a table.

We are going 9 nights and only booking one ADR ahead of time. Skipper Canteen on a Saturday night around fireworks start. We want to eat during fireworks and miss the crush of people leaving.

I've been looking at the app for a while and day of reservations for 2 for dinner are pretty wide open. As long as you are fine if you have to travel to another park, hotel or even Disney Springs, I think you will find plenty of options. Even signatures if you don't mind eating a little bit later (around 8 or so).

Last July my husband and I decided to cancel all but three of our dining reservations on our 10-night trip. We were staying at BWI and went into Epcot many evenings to sample some Food & Wine offerings. We dubbed it our liberating trip because we had a great time without ADRs or fast passes.

I had originally booked 4 ADRs for a 4-day trip. ADR day was back in early July. Since that time, I've changed flights and essentially turned it into a 6-day trip (early arrival - late departure), added park days, and canceled all ADRs. Also traveling with my adult DD :).

Not sure if I'm going to regret that or not, lol, but we kind of want to leave things open, although I do like making a late lunch/early dinner for the AC break.

That being said, I think it's totally doable to go with the flow! (At least I'm hoping :)).

It really only matters if there are certain restaurants where you want to dine. If it doesn't matter, on most nights, you can find something.
For us, we have certain restaurants where we want to dine, so winging it doesn't work for us. But, for lunch, we never book anything and that is a toss up.

Well ADR date and time came and we resisted the temptation to book. We have visited many times and this may be our last trip for a while, so we like the idea of being more spontaneous. Thank you for the encouragement. I will report back in October.

Yes, please do report back! DH is famous (with me, anyway) for telling me not to make ADRs, and then when we're actually at WDW he'll ask whether we're eating at this favorite or that favorite this trip. It works out though - that's how we scored a Sci Fi ADR two days beforehand on our last visit!

35 days to go and we have resisted the temptation to book anything. We have a vague list of preferred places and our plan is to mainly eat at the bar or in lounges, or pick up last minute TS reservations.
Our list is The Boathouse, WGP, WBG, Chef Art, Morimoto Asia, Flying Fish, Jaleo, Nomads, Baseline, Rose Lounge, HBD, Bar Riva, Topolino Terrace, CG and maybe Citricos, Jiko, Steakhouse 71 or Tiffins, but we are not ruling anywhere out. We have never explored Wilderness Lodge/Fort Wilderness, so we may explore those.

Open to other suggestions.

It’s just two adults. We will eat everything, but tend to lean towards seafood. I don’t like big restaurants, which is a bit of a problem at WDW.

We tend to have a coffee/smoothie breakfast, one proper meal in the evening and a snack/QS/CS during the day. My daughter traditionally likes Casey’s Corner for one MK QS (but I hate it). She also likes the lobster benedict at GFlo.

We both enjoy a glass of wine (my daughter a cocktail), so we will also visit Enzo’s Hideaway, the bourbon bar at the Polite Pig and F&W booths.

The budget is vaguely US$ 140 each per day, which is vaguely based on the old DDP prices.

What is the name of the restaurant/bar in DS that serves some of the La Cava cocktails?
