I booked a FD package for Nov for my DH and myself and made our ADR's(180+) then my husband informed me he will not be able to go because of work and told me to take our daughter and DGS(age 2) instead. So I stalked the reservations to try to change some and add some character meals for DGS and was able to snatch a couple and was happy until I realized all my ADR's were made for 2 people. I wasn't even thinking that I needed them for 3 now because he is only 2 and is free but realized duh he needs to be counted in the reservations anyhow,I have tried to find reservations for 3 instead and no luck on any of them, not a single one.

I have some pretty good ones that I want to keep so what are my chances of getting them for 3 instead of 2? I have an 8:30 TH adr that I don't want to lose,as well as a H&V one.My excitement level went from 100 to 0 real quick.

Any advice?

Hi there,

You absolutely need to phone Disney Dining and speak with a cast member. They may not be able to help, but then again, they might; I had a similar situation with BoG and because I called early, I think, I was able to get the ADR adjusted. Call soon as you can.

Call. Then, call back frequently. Something may open up. I'd call anytime I had an hour to put a phone to my ear while on hold.

You might not fix all of them that way, but some, and hopefully, most.

Persistence pays.

I tried for over a month to get BOG for Sept. (I didn't start planning ADRs until about the 165 day mark.) I finally got it! Not at the best time, 8:40pm, but, I'll take it.

Keep trying.

I would call to see if they can modify the reservations to 3. I would also try to check online for a party of 4 instead of 3 because Disney's system doesn't always like odd number parties.

But we won't be a party of 4.Are you saying you are allowed to book for more people and show up with less?If that is the case then why couldn't I just keep my ADR's and DGS could either sit on one of our laps or we could get a high chair correct? Seeing how we will be seated at a table for 2. :confused3

It's easier to book a table for an even numbered group than an odd. The reason being the tables are 2- 4-, 6-top, etc. so while a party of 2 will be seated at a designated 2-top, a party of 3 will be at a 4-top. I frequently travel with a party of 5 and book our ADRs for 6 people knowing that whether a 6th person is with us or not (often times my best friend does drive up from Vero Beach for a couple of days thus making us a true party of 6) we'll still be seated at a 6-top. Your DGS could absolutely sit in a high chair at a 2-top table but I'll throw caution to it not being the most comfortable arrangement as those tables are small.

The only problem with showing up with 3 (even if he could sit on your lap) and only having a reservation for 2 is that they ARE limited by the fire code as well. If that extra person would put them over, you may be turned away.

I'm not saying that you necessarily need to keep the reservation for 4, as you can always call and have them modify it down to 3. However, their system is designed to fill all seats, and therefore it is sometimes easier to find a 4 top than a 3 top when looking for availabilty.

As others have said, keep trying every day multiple times a day as people cancel all the time and you never know if/when something might become available. Since your trip isn't until November, you still have plenty of time for things to open up. Good luck.

Most tables are so close together that there is simply not room to add a chair or highchair. And most 2 tops are pretty small.

Disney won't seat 3 people at a table meant for 2. No room. But they will sit 3 at a table meant for 4. It is always better to over count how many people you have then under count. Under-counting means if there isn't space, someone could be turned away. And if everyone decides to leave you still have to pay the per person no show fee.

I am just going to stalk for reservations, called and not able to add another person.I am keeping what I have for now cause if I am unable to obtain reservations for all 3 of us for the character meals I will just let my daughter and grandson take the reservation for 2,even though this is not my favorite option, seeing how it is his first trip and I would miss out seeing his reaction/interaction with the characters, this grandma is willing to make the sacrifice :sad1:

Oh and I was able to get a CP adr for the 3 of us and also just scored a BOG dinner adr for 11/21 at 5:30 pm but really want to get a FP+ lunch ressie for 11/19 when they open up so yes there is still hope ;)
