Adr Do we need them

He is now saying if he fancies ts that day he will reserve in the morning of that day. I bet we do that and when nowhere as any places and blame me or the cm.

So make the reservations yourself! If he's going to be angry either way, you may as well have some good meals.

I was there this past week.... I can tell you on at least 3 of the four days as I was waiting to be seated I heard the hostess turn people away saying there was nothing available... that was at Mama Melrose, Crystal Palace and Coral Reef... the 4th day we were at Animal Kingdom and didn't plan any TS.... we are also going in April and I have called and tried to change some of the TS I had booked at the 6 month mark and there was no availability..... and yesterday as I was having lunch with my sister she was calling to get some additional reservations for her trip in May and there was nothing available..... my recommendation is to make them and you can always cancel them if you decided you don't want them...

He pays the phone bill.
And we live in the UK so mobile will be costly.

as long as they are not TS that require a credit card deposit I could help you.... just send me the info on where you might want to eat and the dates and times and I could try and get them booked for you.... then PM you the confirmation numbers

My husband and I always just wing it!! And end up eating at Cosmic Ray's. Trust me you can only take so much of Cosmic Ray's. We are going again in October and plan on making our ADRs at our 180 day mark. I guess we are just doing more planning this time and are going to enjoy ourselves and the food that Disney has to offer. Our only problem now is that we have to wait for the October calendar to be posted so we know what time the different parks close.

We did walk into Liberty Tree Tavern in October of 2006 with NO ADR. We were not turned away, but we did have to wait about 45 Minutes before getting to be seated and this was for a late lunch. MAKE A FEW ADRs and DON'T TELL HIM. He will be glad that you did. And if he doesn't want to join you, he can go eat at Cosmic Rays.

Here is a link to the DIS Menus

Do you have to make ADRs? No. If you want to eat at some of the more popular venues or character meals, yes, you do. WDW is not like any other vacation place. It is unique. There are thousands of people every day visiting and wanting to eat.

If you want CS, line up, you are all set. If you want to eat at Crystal Palace for any meal, make an ADR. Otherwise, you will either be eating at an off time, or not at all.

August is very busy. It is when many American families vacation. The kids sports are done, there is still a couple weeks until school starts and they are going to WDW. And they may be getting free dining. And they make ADRs.

It is very hard for someone who has never gone to understand the need for making dinner reservations months in advance.

Otherwise, get familar with the CS options and the less traveled locations. You will have better luck in those places. You will not be able to get Chef Mickeys, CS, CRT, Le Cellier, R&C, and on and on. They will be booked by savvy Disney travelers. Every internet site you go to advises booking ADRs. Those that don't heed the advice, eat CS and get turned away.

Glad you found the DIS and I hope it helps. (Is it just the two of you and where are you staying? You may not even be able to get a ressie at your hotel's TB location like 'Ohana)

It costs you nothing to make ADR's now. You can always cancel them later.

We showed up for our ADR at Tutto Italia last month - and the people in front of me had just walked in wondering if they could get a table. They were told NO WAY (but nicely!) and we were escorted right in immediately. I could feel the frustration in the other family - but it was bliss to just go right on in.

You will be glad you have some ADR's booked, I'm telling you.

he says we will book it the day we arrive for our second week i bet when we get to the hotel and try and book there wont have any tables and he will go ballistic.

I'm not going this now so my 180 day mark a year away.

Well, if your 180 day mark isn't even for a year, I wouldn't even sweat it for 11 months yet. About a month before your 180 day mark, try convincing him. I know the trip is sooooooo far away, a lot of guys don't like planning that far in advance. Sheesh, I am a planner, and even "I" don't even want to plan what I want to eat in 20 months!!! Wait till it's closer, then worry.

Good, I'm glad for you!

Now you can enjoy salivating over all the choices!!!

Even though out trip 17 and a half we have already found 8 restaurants we want to eat at.

Are you going from the UK?

You will LOVE WDW! We fell in love with it! It is NOTHING like Disneyland Paris, it will just take your breath away!

My boyfriend thought I was crazy in the beginning for wanting to plan where we ate 6 months in advance, well, the closer to the time we got, the more excited he got hearing about all these lovely places we were going to eat at. When we got there, he was thanking me even more as people were being turned away left, right, and centre or being told it was a 2 wait at least. This was last August.

Now we're going again this August and he is helping me plan all our ADRs - can we eat here again, can we eat there... and making sure I book them at the 180 day mark (which of course being a good DISer, I did ;)) I have all the menus printed off in my 'WDW' folder and we love going through them together and thinking of all the great places we'll be eating at!

Where else are you planning on eating? We LOVED 50s Prime Time Cafe, especially the Pot Roast and the S'Mores dessert!

I'm glad you've decided YES to ADRs - you really do need them if you have certain places you want to eat at, or you definitely want to eat TS/at a certain time. There are some certain ADRs you can't even get 4 or 5 months out, so earlier is definitely better!
