ADR Cancellations and Last Minute Bookings?

We have never gone to WDW before so this ADR business is new to us. We also booked our trip after the 180 days.

Is there a general rise in people cancelling the day before a reservation, rather than people cancelling further in advance? I'm thinking yes?

And from you WDW veterans, what are the chances of getting a restaurant ADR you want the day before/day of? Would you ever plan your park schedule around the assumption you will get an ADR you want?

This ADR planning is driving me nuts!

Hi - I am FAR from an expert at this, but have been learning lots from my sister-in-law as we plan a trip in a couple of weeks. We didn't book our trip until the end of September, but we have managed to find ADRs at several great places -- including character meals. That said, it has taken some work. We watch these threads for cancellations and also check the dining website for openings a least a couple of times each day.

Based on what I have seen following the threads on here I would say that you will see an increase in cancellations as travel dates draw nearer. Many people have multiple reservations that they make while they are trying to plan out which parks, etc. on which day. Once their plans become more final they start dropping the reservations that they don't need. In the past week I have seen a lot of people dropping reservations for dates up to about the 19th. I assume dates after that will start to show up this week (I hope so as that's when we are going!). Also, I definitely feel like I see people posting cancellations as late as the day before -- probably as a result of plans changing once they get there.

Anyway, keep checking. I'd be surprised if at least some reservations that you would be interested in don't start popping up. Good luck. Nancy
