ADR at AK before park opening...a little confused!

I also posted this on the Restaurants Board. We have an 8:00 reservation for Donald's Breakfastosaurus at AK. When we get to the park, will we know where to go for our breakfast? If there a different entrance? On that day, the park opens at 9:00. I assume we will be done eating by then. Where do we go for the rope drop? We will be going to Expedition Everest like everyone else! Maybe I'll post this on the Theme Parks board, too. Thanks!

When I was at AK for EMH, they had the entrance to Dinoland blocked off. Anyone who had ADR's for the breakfast got to enter, but the rest of us had to stand and wait for 9am for Dinoland to open (Dinoland doesn't open early for the EMH).

HTH.

They will have 1 or 2 turnstiles open for those with early ADRs. If you finish eating before 9 you will be corraled in Dino Land until 9AM park opening BUT you will be halfway to EE compared to those waiting at the main park entrance for rope drop.

I can answer one part of your question... When you get there at 8:00 - you will see one turnstile being used (to the far right when we were there earlier this month) and a CM checking reservations. She had a clipboard with all the reservations on it for that morning. When they find your name, they let you through - and they have CMs lined up every 100 ft or so directing you to Donald's... And don't sweat it if you're a little late - we were 15 min late - we also had the 8:00am but didn't arrive until 8:15. The CM was very understanding and told us that it happens all the time. We still only had to wait 10 minutes or so to get a seat - and they seat a whole section of the restaurant at a time.

As far as the rope drop goes, I can't say for sure because we were still eating - but I would think they would either hold you there until the park opens or direct you to the normal holding area for the rope drop... just a guess.

Oh and by the way - make sure to try the breakfast pizza... it is AMAZINGLY delicious!! Have fun!!

No problem getting in, they will have your name. We had an 8:20 res, were there a little early, and was done right before 9. They hold you at Dinoland, at the rope drop everyone headed to EE. Everyone was walking very fast, but when you get to the bridge there waere more CM's holding you up, and you can see the group from the other direction. They try to get both groups there at the same time. Coming from Dinoland direction the FP is farther away, so we followed our CW right onto the ride and were the first ones on the train. When we got off we got a FP and went on line again. The wait was not so long, and they have a lot of things to keep you occupied. Almost wished the wait was longer to get a chance to see it all!

Do they send you through the main Dinoland entrance into the main hub, or do you go over a new bridge I have seen near the old "Tarzan Rocks"?? Just curious.

Friday, May 19, 2006: this was our experience:

DAK non-EMH (9am open)
Donald's Breakfastosaurus: 8am Ressie.
Enter for breakfast at 7:55am
Breakfast finished at 8:40am
CM "held" everyone at Bone-yard area (nobody allowed to go back into DAK)
At 8:55am, we were "released" to walk on past the Tarzan Rocks/Nemo Theater (still just I-beams, under construction) to the bridge where two CM's were holding a rope.

They watched across the water until they saw the hordes of folks (being led by CM's) heading towards Asia.

They speed-walked us back to EE, but the "hordes" from the front gate beat us to the standby entrance (Asia is the shorter route to EE than Dinoland).

But, one of our CM's walked OUR group directly thru the FASTPASS entrance (she told the FP CM that we were "coming through"!)

We were on the FIRST ride, in the second car of EE that day!

COOL!

Now, I don't know if this is STANDARD PROCEDURE (so don't COUNT on it to happen) but it was a PERFECT way to start our DAK day, that morning.

You've already been told about the entrance on the right of the turnstiles. As for getting FP for Everest, I checked w/Disney on this because we have 8:40 ADR's at Donald and was concerned about waiting till our breakfast was over before getting FPs. I was told that you can have someone in your party go to Everest to get FP's for your group once the park opens and then return to the restaurant. I was relieved to hear that because I'm a planning freak and having to wait longer for Everest would have put a real cramp in my intinerary for the rest of the day.

Robo, LOVE that response! I am curious, too, if this is "standard procedure". anyone else have a different experience?

Thanks....I guess this works this way in all the parks? We have early ADRs for almost all the parks, before they open. In fact, we were very curious what happens when we were done eating and before the park actually opened. Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2

I hope you are not booking an ADR for the sole purpose of getting into the park and closer to Expedition Everest on that morning. So you wolf down your food to finish before rope drop, enjoying it very little, and get indigestion and vomit on the ride!
