I obtained a name from Operation Military Pride. Since DH and I do K-9 Search and Rescue as volunteers, we requested a K-9 handler, and were given the name of one in the AF who was requesting items for his unit of 6 people and dogs.

We had a blast putting the package together and mailed it away 3 weeks ago today. I didn't think to put our e-mail address in the letter, but DID put it on the outside of the package under the return address.

I *think* that our unit may be in the country of Oman. (Guessing due to search results I got when Googling the APO.) I am guessing that it may take 3 weeks for the package to arrive(?)

We're really itching to go with a second box for this group, but with all of the conflicting reports about whether or not to send packages, I am hesitant to pack up another one unless I hear that the first one actually got through.

How long is it taking for packages to get "there?"
Are any of you hearing back from the "strangers" you adopted, or should I just assume it was received and keep on sending?

I want to do my part, and feel strongly about supporting the service DOGS as well as the people, but am wavering as to what to do next...

I got a letter from the 82nd Airborne yesturday and had mailed the package 2-maybe 3 weeks ago. I got his name threw OMP. I say its okay to keep sending them, they really appericate it.
I have some other adopted sons from these boards that I havent heard from yet, but I dont think the packages have reached them yet.
I enclosed a self addressed stamped envelope in my packages, in case they have a second to drop me a line.
I hope I helped you.

Was SSgt John Parrish and his dog Aaron the one you sent your package to?

Is that the official adoption program? I wanted to do something but I wasn't sure of which program to go with.
