Dh and I have been talking of adopting another dog.

We have a 1yr old female Aussie. She loves other dogs and has been sad since our older dog died a few months ago.

I have been looking at a male Aussie since mid Jan.
I emailed the rescue organization about a month ago and never heard back.

I emailed the rescue again on Monday Feb. 22. Someone responded immediately saying they would send me an application and more info.

I have not heard back from them. I am thinking that fate has decided this is not the dog for us.

Do you think I should contact them again or let it go?

I sent a email to the rescue last night.
They emailed me back. Their internet has been down.

We are arranging a time to meet.

Fate is a strange thing, it's sometimes hard to figure out exactly what the end result should be. It sounds like you really want this dog, so maybe fate is just making you work a little harder for it. I hope it all turns out for you, I would love to have an Aussie!

I'm originally from the Detroit area. How's the weather there today?

Looking forward to hearing how it goes.

The wether here has been in the mid 40's.

Yesterday when I took our dog for a walk, she got to play in the snow and swim in the puddles.

We're in the same boat..we adopted a dog last April and she is almost a year old. I would not mind another dog because another can't be any worse than the one we already have. (joking)

But this one is going through obedience training right now...I told hubby we can't even think of another one until this one is trained.

We went to meet him on Saturday. We fell in love with him. We are waiting for the home visit.

I was quite nervous when we first got there. we knew that the dog does not like men or boys. He lived in a home with a single mom and 16 boys before being brought to the rescue.

When he was first brought out, the recue worker was holding him- he growled at Dh and DS-11 1/2. The worker had me and DD-9 come up to him and the boys back up. He was fine with us.

As soon as the worker let him down, he ran over to DH (who was by our dog) and laid by his feet to be petted. He ran over to Ds to be petted.

Our dog wanted to play with him, but all he wanted to do was lay on the kids lap and snuggle.

We visited with him for 2 hours before we drove the 2 hours back home.

I asked the worker if he was like this with other people. She said it was a wonderful visit. She was very surprised how much the dog liked us. She has fostered him for 3 years. He was going to be adopted a few months ago and the lady's mother got sick and never heard back from her.
