Adjoining rooms at Pop Century

How likely is it that I can get adjoining rooms at Pop Century? Anyone have any experience with this in the past? Thanks!

There were two instances when we requested connecting rooms and did not get them at Disney Resorts. Once we were given adjoining rooms(next to each other) and the other time we were given rooms that had one room in between.
Both times we checked in early so it is purely by luck of the room draw whether or not you get your request. Since Pop is a bigger resort, your chances may be better.

We've had connecting rooms every time we've requested them at the Value resorts (on 5 different trips).

If it's just your immediate family, you can request guaranteed connecting rooms. Our confirmation from Walt Disney Travel said:

SPECIAL REQUEST: GUARANTEED CONNECTING ROOMS
PLEASE NOTE: CONN W (NAME) WIFE
PLEASE NOTE: RQ COURTYARD POOL VIEW. NOT GTD.

I'm not sure you can get a guaranteed connection if you have other families you're travelling with (i.e. grandparents, etc.).

As you may have determined from the previous posters, there is a difference in "Disney speak" between adjoining and connecting rooms. Connecting rooms are those with an inside door that provides access to the other room. Adjoining rooms are next to (or near) each other, but there is no inside door connecting them. Be sure to specify the type of rooms you would like when making your reservation.

Thanks for the info! I do want connecting rooms, so I am glad that you all explained that to me!!:goodvibes We are traveling with another family, so I don't think that I could get the guarantee, but even if we could get rooms close together, that would be okay.

We just got back Monday and checked in last Monday (4/27). We were able to get connecting rooms but they were not ready when we arrived and requested them. We were willing to wait since we were 2 families travelling together and each was taking a "date" night and watching the other's kids. The only downside of waiting was that we didn't get in to our rooms until we returned from the parks at 10pm. We didn't get a chance to freshen up, etc., before we went to the parks (were up since 4am) but it was worth it to have that connecting door. And we loved that all the luggage was there when we did arrive.
We also requested them 4 years ago upon arrival and were able to get them, then, too.

Just general information - it's not "Disney speak", it's "hotel speak".

Requesting adjoining rooms at the Holiday Inn, the Hilton, the Marriott, the Four Seasons, EconoLodge... all will get you rooms next to or near each other. Requesting connecting rooms at any of those properties will get you - where/when available - the two rooms with the inside connecting doorway.

I have a follow up question....can you get rooms adjoining that both have king size beds? (not necessarily connecting rooms)

Wondering if they have only one king per floor or something like that.....

From my understanding, the King bedrooms are very limited...only two per floor at most, and those two are not adjoining...so the answer to your question is No.

From what I've seen, you CAN get connecting rooms where ONE of the rooms has a King bed, though...but might be hard to get since there are so few King bedrooms.

That's true in most cases, but not all hotel chains use that same terminology. Some reservation agents I've spoken to over the years use the terms "adjoining" and "connecting" interchangeably. Since we're talking about Disney resorts in this thread, I confined my response to that context.

We successfully booked connecting rooms when the CM suggested we call ourselves a "grand gathering" and noted this on our reservations.

How many people do you need for a Grand Gathering? Do you know if they all have to check in on the same date? We get in on the 10th (4 of us) and SIL and family get in on the 11th (4 of them too). Are there any other benefits to being a Grand Gathering? We've requested 2 connecting rooms, with 1 adjoining room. We don't really expect that we'll be lucky enough to have both fulfilled and have indicated that the connecting room request is more important.

I have done this many times. You will need to call Disney and ask for grand gatherings ( groups of 8 or more for phone choice). You will give them info on both families so get there Ressie #. Have a name ready, they will give your GG a name. The GG people have told us many times that the GG rooms are placed first and linked together so the room assigner places them together. Have gone on 4 GG vacations and have never been seperated from the other families. Once we had 5 different rooms and were all together. In the past they even gave us GG buttons to wear. I love the GG CM's. Happy Plannin'

We requested and received adjoining rooms at All-Star Movies about 9 years ago. No problem at all.

This has come up on here for years! You may have a written confirmation from Disney guaranteeing you connecting rooms. However, if you look in the fine print, you will see they the proceed to say that is not guaranteed. Disney only guarantees you a room. In the vast majority of cases (I don't know exactly how many but it certainly is their goal to fulfill your reservation) everything goes fine. However, things happen and there are times when your "guaranteed" request isn't met. Heck there are times you pay for preferred and don't get it, or get moved to a whole different resort. Again, rare, not the norm but it happens.

If you have to have connecting rooms due to minor aged children, the best way to feel very safe in that happening is to book accomodations that can handle your number. A Music Suite for example can accomodate six people. If you reserve two rooms for mom, dad and the four kids, it is not unheard of for you to get two, separate rooms, and that mom and dad will be sleeping in different rooms. This happened to friends of ours at All Star Sports. They did eventually get their connecting rooms, but the first few nights, they were in separate rooms, in separate buildings.

Here is a thread that deals with this whole thing:

I posted links in post #8 and sure enough when the poster I was posting those for looked on her confirmation, it was stated her guarantee wasn't guaranteed! Pst #13 also posted some links on this issue.

I booked with another party and they granted our request. I'm going again this year with my in-laws and I also requested adjoining rooms.

However, from past experience, a request is just a request and nothing is guranteed.

I hear that people request them and they are hard to get. However I had no need for one when I went in March. I checked in and the girl said my room wasn't ready but she'd find me one that was. Lo and behold it was an adjoining room.

We just checked in a the Pop Century last Tuesday, April 28th. Six members of my family were going and we had two separate rooms. One had two adults and two children and the other had two adults. We had connecting rooms on our reservation from the beginning and I did send the resort a fax requesting connecting rooms "for babysitting" a few days before our arrival. We did not have any other requests on our reservation regarding room location as this was very important to us. We arrived at about 2:30 PM and were given connecting rooms. We were not thrilled with the location, and asked if we could move, but only if we could keep the connecting rooms. The cast members were very accomodating and spent a few minutes looking on the computer for something to meet our needs. They were able to find a set of closer connecting rooms that were ready at that time. We were really pleased and those connecting doors were well used while we were there!
