Addonitis - the kind where you keep adding nights to your stay

Anyone else have this affliction? I have a serious condition - I can't help myself and everyone I travel with is an enabler. We thoroughly plan and pick out where we want to stay, for how long, plan vacation time around it. Then around the time I go to book flights I find myself considering flying in the night before or staying an extra night. Mostly because of flight arrival and departure times and trying to maximize our time there. Or maybe that's what I keep telling myself. This condition seems to be very closely affiliated with addonitis and needing another contract to support the added days. I have a problem, and I am not really sorry about it either but please tell me I am not alone. Now you know the real reason behind my split stays, it's because I can't keep from adding on another night, or two, or three!!!!

I'm there with you. I go with my mom and we both enable each other too LOL Our trip for September was booked Saturday-Saturday and now we are going Wednesday-Saturday, 10 nights LOL

Thank God flights booked since just up until a few weeks ago the Tuesday was still showing available LOL

I almost always go in the night before to maximize time, but since I get in late, I crash at the all stars for a night. I pack a overnight bag so I do not have to unpack anything from my suitcase.
It saves me a nights points, gets me a full day on day 1, and since I am not getting in until 10pm or later, its not like I can take advantage of the resort - I am basically going straight to sleep. I move to my DVC resort day 2 and can take full advantage of it. I do not see the point in using points the first night in that case

Yes in fact we just did this for the trip we just came back from. We were originally going for 11 nights and then decided to add on the Saturday before our original check in to "have equal amount of days at each resort" because we were doing a split stay so we ended up having 6 nights at each for a total of 12. lolo_O

That is awesome...I was thinking of flying in Monday night, going to illuminations last show and flying out Tuesday morning!

This. You are not alone...and that is why we love Disney :lovestruc

Omg I do this all the time. My trips get longer and longer. For my January 2020 trip I was coming in 2 days before my cruise....it’s up to 5 before the cruise now. I blame it on the new system. I see the day pop up and can’t resist. Glad I’m not the only one.

Yes! You make me feel better. It's literally every. single. trip. I book.

I have done the value resorts for a night more than once but I haven't caught on to your overnight bag idea. I was actually thinking I need to do this for our September trip since there will be 8 total people and we are there 8 nights so lots of luggage. I wanted to try and keep things organized and thought let's keep day one stuff in one suitcase before we switch resorts. Genius!

I did add on to OKW for a night in August. We haven't stayed there before and are getting in at 8:30am so thought great way to see the resort, enjoy some Disney Springs time etc. I also snagged a 2 bedroom value at Jambo for one night in September before we move to BLT. It was just meant to be. We are traveling with my husbands family on that trip and I wanted them to see how amazing AKV is. Plus we arrive early again so we get to explore. That overnight bag will really come in handy here.

I just bumped my trip up to 10 nights after seeing the price of flights. lol! Now we're staying at Art of Animation for the first time for 1 night, before switching resorts. Super excited to check out this resort and use the first day to relax and get in the Disney groove. :earsgirl:

LOL, that is what happened to us. We booked a Sat-Sat stay and kept seeing availability for our room and I kept adding LOL Now we are 10 nights too. Cannot wait!

Ha, i wish it was that easy for me to modify the majority of my reservations. Most made at the 11+ month mark and even then I often have to waitlist.

It is a bit of a leap of faith though to hope the airfare works out in the end. Thank goodness SWA has such a liberal change policy.

But once I get my airfare all the adding ends. I start my reservation at 11 months, but don’t buy airfare until about 2 months out, so a lot of time to add and tweak.

Yes, I, too, have to stop adding once we do airfare (although this year, I added three nights AFTER air after my dd decided she was going to join my mom and me). But usually after air, although I stop adding, that is when ALL my trouble begins!!!

I'm very happy with when I book at 11 or 7 months, but then I see better accommodations, different location, etc. Then I start moving, or move what I can and start stalking. It is a very vicious cycle that I cannot stop LOL

I was SO happy when I had our 10 nights booked at GFVs for September. I said to myself, ahhhh, have our studio, all good, I don't have to unhealthy stalk like I did in January for my 8 nights at BLT that I put together by stalking (so obsessive, I started having dreams about stalking and moving my mouse to click to check availability). Then I started thinking, wow, 10 nights, I should really have a washer/dryer and regular fridge. So then I started stalking. I was able to get a two bedroom at GFVs piecing it together and now have 9 nights in a dedicated standard two bedroom but my last night is in a lockoff standard two bedroom for September 13. I have been obsessively stalking since April for a dedicated two bedroom.

I am promising myself that when I book again for 2020, I will book and be done with it, I hope I don't disappoint myself but I also really shouldn't promise that to myself either LOL :)

We fly southwest so we are known to change flights too. Sometimes if the cost of the price on an originally planned travel day doesn’t come down after a few months then we do the “spend the money on a hotel rather than extra airfare costs” math.

This is why I end up with split stays. Most of the time when I decide to add on its under the 7 month mark so our resort is booked and we add on at another one or with cash. Since we fly SWA we have to book resort rooms before we know airfare options.
