Adding to Room Only

I still don't have an answer to this so I'm reposting hoping someone will get back to me. If I book room only, what is the LATEST I could add MYW + DDP? Can it be done at check in? One week before? One month before?

Most likely 72 hrs before hand(for the DDP) & I assume the same with the tickets. But I would call & ask as it put it in a different catergory & might not have the room but call. Others may know the answers better than me. I always book a package except for once then room only & I got my tickets elsewhere. Then they didn't have the dining plans. I would do it as soon as you know you want a pacakage

You must add the dining plan ahead of time, can't do it at check in. According to the FAQ post on the dining page, it seems that there is no exact number of days ahead of your check in when it needs to be done. But is probably at least 5 days ahead. If you don't want the dining plan and just want tickets, they can be bought at check in.

I was told 72 hrs before your trip by several CM at Disney travel. I have DDP on my trip but wanted the deluxe dining added & we leave May 13th & added it today. Was told again 72 hrs to add dining with no penalty since I was increasing the cost of my package.

I'm not sure that you can add dining to a room only reservation. As I understand it, you will need to change your reservation from a room only to a MYW package. This will change the deposit requirement and payment deadline. Once you have a package you may then add the dining prior to your arrival.

If you got a discount on your room only reservation, it might be better for you to not try and add the dining plan. The new DDP does not save you as much as it would have last year. It is still somewhat more convenient than paying out of pocket.

You have to change to a package to get the DDP. You cannot add it to a room only ressie.....espessially if the room is discounted. Depending on your room rate it might be better to just OOP your meals.

thanks for the replies. I'm thinking of getting our AAA room only, waiting to see what packages come out, then adding thru AAA MYW + dining if that's the better deal. Just wondering if that will work. This past year, we couldn't be as flexible because I made the initial room + package ressie right away, so when the free park hopper + waterparks came out, we could not take advantage due to not being able to be flexible with the dates.

You will have to book a AAA package through AAA.
You can book a AAA room only res through Disney. But then you cannot convert your room only res into a package to include dining.
When you book a room only, that is what you get.
There is not a room only and add whatever components you wish at a later time.
You can only cancel and rebook as a package.
But again, a AAA package has to be booked through AAA.
