Adding Sound

Sorry to ask a question that probably gets asked all the time (but it's not covered in the FAQ that I saw & the search is down).

I'm trying to add sound to a thread, what's the vB code for that?

BTW is it only wavs or does it also support AIFF, mp3, midi, etc?

I really wouldn't recommend adding sounds. Awhile back, I think it was J. Cricket, did a test sound here on the tech board. When I looked at the post, I got 3 different pop-up's. I don't remember all three but two of them included a message about my default sound player, and another said it wasn't the most recent and asked about updates.

Say your post is the 10th post in a list. The user's computer will hit the sound code and depending on what configurations the users have set up, may get similar pop-up. Meanwhile the first post in the list is what's being displayed on their screen. This could be quite confusing to some not so knowledgeable computer users as they wouldn't know what's happening.

Just a thought.

Don't know for sure what the board allows, but it's the user's computer sound system that determines more what their system could handle.
