Adding someone to the room at the last minute?

We had invited my sister to join us on our upcoming WDW trip, and originally she thought she would not be able to join us. Now she thinks there is a chance she might be able to come by at least briefly. (She works for a major airline, and can fly free standby if there is room available on the flight.) However, because of her work schedule, she isn't likely to be certain until the last minute if she can come.

Her presence would not put us over the occupancy limit on the rooms we have booked. She would not be staying with us the whole trip, probably just a couple of nights max.

Would we have any difficulty going down to the front desk and adding another adult to the room for a couple of nights in the middle of a trip?

Also, we have ADRs for many meals throughout the trip, made 6 months in advance. There is no way I could rebook some of them again, particularly since free dining is going on while we'll be there, and as I mentioned before, we're not likely to know in advance if she'll even be joining us. How likely are places to be able to accommodate an additional person in the party at the last minute? Our ADRs include our baby. Could we offer to just hold the baby so she doesn't take up a space at the table? DS understands this may be an issue, and she is fine with not always eating with us, and just snacking around the World Showcase at the F & W festival. I just wondered if anyone had any experience with a similar situation?

If you are not doing a dining plan, add her now. The front desk staff is unable to modify the reservation to add/change names. Last time we had to add guests, they went into the back room and the reservation was cancelled and rebooked to modify the names.

I agree, add her now and just hold on to her key. We have modified our head count when checking in for our ADR without any trouble. I'm sure that Disney doesn't like it but what else can you do?

Me too, I would add her now. Trying to do something like that at the resort could mess up your points.

I was a late addition to my DCuzs plans which included dinner at CRT. She could not add me to the ADR, but I showed up and the person at the podium was very accomodating. I was fully prepared to pass on the meal, but it didn't hurt to ask!

it looks like your family is a Mom, Dad, 1 child and an infant. If the infant is "high chair" size, it won't be a problem at most restaurants to have 4 seated + a high chair. You just may need to wait a few extra minutes so that they are sure you get a table where the high chair won't block an aisle.

We have added extra people to our ADR's several times. We just always go to the restaurant, and nicely tell the hostess that we have an extra person. They have always made room for our tag-alongs.

Yes, our family is a Mom, Dad, child, and infant. (This is why we can put my sister in the living room in the villa easily.) For part of the trip, we're in a 1- bedroom, and for part of the trip my mother and step-father are joining us, and we're in a 2 bedroom.

I like the suggestion of just going ahead and putting her on the reservation for the portion of the stay that she's likely to show up during. I think that is probably the easiest way to handle it. Thanks for the suggestion!

The baby is high chair sized. She'll either be in a stroller or a baby bjorn for the trip. We'll either just push the stroller to the table at the places that allow it, or have her in a high chair. I'm glad to hear people have had good luck adding someone to the ADRs. I wasn't planning to try to bring her along to CRT (we're doing it on our first day, before there is any chance DSis could join us, at least on her current schedule,) but we do have ADRs for every night and most lunches, and I hated to think we'd never get to eat with her at all.

Almost all table service restauants will not allow you to bring a stroller into the restaurant. Be prepared to either hold or put your little one in a high chair.

We've been taking our stroller into table service restaurants on and off for years, generally only when there is a baby/young child sleeping in said stroller. I know the common wisdom is that it isn't allowed, but actually, we've been accommodated when we've asked politely if it would be possible, and even when we haven't asked, it's often been offered. We usually eat at the signature restaurants, and while they're not always happy to see us with a very young child, we've found them to be very kind about allowing the baby to sleep.

That's not true at all. We have taken the grandkids many times as infants and most of the time we are encouraged to bring the stroller in. We always ask if there is an infant highchair and when there isn't, they offer us the option of using our stroller. (This would include: LeCellier, Whispering Canyon, GF Cafe, the Plaza, Lib. Tree, and a few others...). This happens esp. when the babies are sleeping too when toddler size.
