Adding Park Hopper After Buying Package Online

My family and I have already booked our ticket/resort package online and have received our Magic Bands. My friend has 2 Park Hopper passes (like the actual physical ticket) that they've offered to give us (obviously never used). If I get those, do I just scan my band then show the pass? Not sure how that works since I didn't buy it with my park tickets.
