Adding On

We have finally decided to do an add on. So excited. I will be calling member services first thing tomorrow morning. How long does this process usually take to complete? I would like to use my new points to complete my April vacation plans.

Yoy will need to call your guide not MS. Your guide will send you the paperwork that needs signed. You will not have your points untill they process the paperwork.

I cannot remember who my guide was. How do I find this information? (I thought MS could help me with this). We have not had contact since we bought 3 years ago.

I know that we cannot use the points until it has been processed, but if I call tomorrow, what is an average timeframe we are looking at. Should I expect to be able to use these points for my April trip? I am thinking it should be a few weeks from start to finish. Am I correct in this thinking? Or is it usually a long process?

If you can get ahold of your guide tomorrow and make at least a downpayment over the phone, you should have immediate access to the points purchased and able to make a reservation. You can confirm that with your guide. At times, DVC guides have even been willing/able to assist with making the reservation using those newly purchased points.

Whenever I do an add-on, I usually have the points available to me PRIOR to getting the fed-x packet of info. I think 2-3 business days. When I was going to add on while on the cruise, he told me the points would be available prior to getting off boat (4 day cruise).

When we added on, we had the points in our account within hours. We made reservations the very next day!

So, yes, there is no reason you would not be able to book your stay for April, providing there is availability!

As far as actual closing, that does take about a month or so, but it has no impact on booking the reservation when you buy through Disney.

All dependes. If you pay outright for it you should have the points quickly, if you finance maybe a little longer.

Thanks everyone. I am keeping my fingers crossed. What kind of down payment is usually required? Is it a percent or does it vary? I plan on financing through Disney so from what I understand closing costs are waived. Are there any other fees associated with this process. Sorry the add-on process is new to me and I cannot remember what was involved when we originally purchased.

My guide says the points are in the system the next day. We pay for pay upfront, no financing. We're adding on next week.

we just added 140 at BLT on wednesday. the points were aviliable today. would have been yesterday but we did it at 5 pm wednesday. we put a deposit (5%) and pay in full in 30 days. the paperwork will be sent out today(if he got it ready yesterday) or sunday...our guide is off today and tomorrow.

We did an add on in September. The points were in our account minutes after our call to our guide.
