Hi Gang-
I made a bid to add-on and know the salesperson should know this, but want to be all ready... I need to give them my current member number so that my contracts are linked, right? Not my current contract number.. or do I have it wrong?
Glad I know where to come to get my questions answered!

I would NOT give them my member's #. They might ask for your existing contract # so they can title the new one the same way.

I have signed contracts for 2 different resales with the same broker. The first time I wasn't asked for my contract number. On the second one there was a form asking for it. Contracts titled exactly the same way will be under one member number. If the new one is titled differently you will have 2 member's numbers.

hmmm... I know that I want it titled the same way, but the new purchase will have a separate contract number, won't it? I know that I had read discussion in the past that when adding-on it was important that they had a certain number so that both contracts were linked.... I just didn't think it was the contract number.

added: sorry I didn't read through or it didn't register through my add-on fog! Thanks for the help!

you can give them a quick call & it should be no problem to straighten out. your member number is your DVC member number found on your blue id card & they will be able to find you this way. if adding on to your resort, say SSR your contract number 01234567.0 will then be 01234567.1 or if you have already addded on previously 01234567.2. that last number will change.

by giving your contract number, you will identify which contract you will like to add on to. for those of us who have addonitus, this becomes very helpful (to use the contract number, as opposed to member number). it also is helpful if there multiple memberships or changes in names, etc., etc.

yes, they will be linked as i had posted, following the same contract number. and then each subsequent contract added on will have a number, 01234567.0 for the original contract, 01234567.1 for the next add on 01234567.2 for the next contract added on, but the first set of numbers always the same :teacher:

I have 3 separate contracts all titled the same and 1 member's #.

All the same 7 number contract # but each ending .0 and .2 and .3

Agree that maybe you should call your broker to clarify. You can also go on the Member's site to access your current contract #.

Contracts titled exactly the same way will be under one member number. If the new one is titled differently you will have 2 member's numbers.

also has to be the same UY month.

otherwise, you might be adding pts but you would not be "adding on" to one membership.

I've done more than one add-on thru resale. Other than making positive that the title was identical and telling and reminding the broker that I was already an owner I usually didn't do anything else. With my last one on the closing paperwork for Disney I noted my current member number as well.

We just closed on a BWV contract. We already own at SSR. We did not provide the broker with our SSR contract # or our member #. We thought that was only needed if we were buying at SSR. Did we mess something up? :confused3

If you buy another contract at any resort that has the same UY it can become an add on to your existing and though you still have the separate 11 month home resort period it then is seemless to use points from either contract at 7 months.

If everything is titled the same and it's the same UY then it's possible that DVC will pick up on it and add it on to your existing membership. If not then you will have 2 separate memberships which just means it can be a little more difficult to manage but it isn't that bad to handle.

Thanks! I meant to say that we thought we only needed them if it was SSR & the same UY but they are different UY's so I guess we were right & didn't mess anything up after all.

You still might want to contact DVC administrative services or else ask your broker to follow up with DVC that you already own so that the contracts both end up with the same online sign on. Again - DVC may pick up on that when they load it but it's very handy to be able to access both with just one sign on and I've heard it can be difficult to get it switched if they don't do it that way to start out.

Thanks everyone for the information. DIS Boards has helped me so much with my initial rental, then purchase and ownership.
I keep coming here for information, fellowship.... and of course, food porn and laughs:rotfl2:

Our offer was accepted... we're on to ROFR.... a real nailbiter since OKW seems to be the current resort on the ROFR hotseat!!
Wish us Luck : )

I'd give them the master member number and actually make it part of the contract. I'd also alert DVC admin independently and remind the closing company at the time of closing. Make sure the title is EXACTLY the same.
