Hi
My husband and I have a 100pt resale contract at the poly and I am considering adding on a small contract (50-75 points) at RIV or GFV2.
I don't want to go through the stress of a resale contract and would like to get the points right away
We live in Quebec where it's not possible to add-on direct (we need to be in Florida to do it)
I will be down in Florida with my sister and June, and would like to buy a contract then.
Could I qualify as a current member even though I would be signing the contract only in my name, while our resale contract is under my and my husband's name?
If not, would I be able to get two 75-pt contracts (one at RIV and one at GFV2) to get the 150pt minimum amount for a new member?

You would not be allowed to buy a contract in your own name for less than 150 points as it would be a new membership as owners would now be different than what you own since your husband would not be on the deed.

However, because you are a current owner, they may allow you to add on some at each to get to the 150 to create that new membership. I would ask a guide ahead of time to find out.

I have seen Disney be helpful in strange ways....
Best bet is to call a guide, as other have said, explain your plan and let them go to management....

Since that post, many have said they will not let a new membership be created for less than 150 points…and it’s pretty consistent…even for those who are owners.

I could not get my June UY points in two 75 contracts when I added VGF…but, they did give me the 300 point incentive price, even though I put 150 in my Dec UY, and the other 150 in a June UY..which was the new one.

I was surprised by that..the Dec UY points could have been 75 and 75 because that membership was already established.

Interesting? So If a new member wanted to buy 75 points at BLT and 75 at RR they would say no?

Couldn’t you husband be back in the room and you just need to take the papers to him to ”sign”? Wink wink. Nod nod.

Disney will Fedex the papers to you and let you sign them anywhere.... At least in the country.... Didn't the OP say she was from Canada? Not sure if that would fly now that Im thinking it though ... Worth an ask

I’d ask a guide about the options to buy when you are physically present in the states at all. It wouldn’t surprise me if you could buy while physically present in some state that isn’t Florida with access to a US notary. They will know the rules about buying like this.

Also worth noting. This is a Florida real estate interest that has to be probated when you die. If you plan to hold these a long time or pass them to someone, maybe now is the time to get some local legal advice and hold them in a way that won’t require an international estate to probate real estate in Florida. I know I’d rather title this correctly from the start.
