Adding on or just rent/transfer the points?

I've been struggling with the question of whether to add on when BLT comes online. I don't need additional points, so the add on would simply be a small contract to gain 11 month window advantage (for example-a BLT visit every 2-3 years).

Might I be better off paying for an occasional point transfer from a BLT member on Disboards instead?

I've thought about the same thing. I guess it depends on how badly you want to stay at BLT. Could take a long time to find some points to transfer in??

We just did a transfer and it was a little stressful but all went well. I don't know if I'd like to rely on this method every year. But every few years, no problem. Especially if you can get lucky and find a renter that intends to rent out regularly, then you are set.

For what I would pay for the annual dues, I was able to transfer in exactly what I needed, no more or less and won't need that many points again for a few years. I just wish we were able to transfer in more often than just once per UY. I hope they change that policy to at least allow for one in and one out per UY.

Do you know how many rooms will be at BLT? If it is going to be a big resort there may not be a problem with getting a room at 11 months. Does anyone know how big it will be?

I think it would be better to rent/transfer on occation. But better is subjective.

If you have more points than you can use, then you'll take more trips, or you'll need to rent your own points. The first is more expensive, the second - that could make owning those points the cheaper option, but you have to factor in your desire to play DVC landlord.

I'd certainly wait and see what seven month availability is like - and I'd wait a few years (resorts always have a popularity spike when they first open and everyone wants to try the new thing).
