We are thinking of adding on 25 points at the GF and understand that it is the one resort for which Disney does not have a waitlist. We really do only want a small number of points.

Any success stories out there? Does anyone have a guide you found particularly helpful? We have a guide assigned to us a long time ago, but as I remember, he wasn't very helpful generally, so I am afraid to even bring the subject up with him. Thanks!

At one time, Disney had no waitlist for VGF, but I think they will sell VGF points now, although it may take a couple of weeks.
There are also many contracts available on the resale market, but few at 25 points.

I'm trying to do the same thing at bcv and also get the same UY. My guy just tells me to email him once a week to check if points come in. He has been very nice about checking....I've done that for the past 6 weeks or so, nothing yet but he's confident it will happen at some point....

25 points at the VGF isn't going to get you much - only 1 night per year in most cases. ( Won't even get you one weekend night in a standard view studio for Magic & Premier seasons. (Depending on when you decide to go, if you bank and borrow, you could get up to 3 nights, but then you risk losing a few points every so often). On top of that, standard view studios disappear quickly - for some seasons, you may not even get what you want at 11 months.

Sorry to rain a bit on the parade. Just want to make sure you understand the risks of owning a small number of points at the VGF,especially if you're planning on booking standard view studios. You'll need to be a planner and willing to learn the ins and outs of DVC booking (including walking) to be able to successfully use those points at VGF for some times of the year.. (And if you're going to use VGF points at 7 months, there are several less expensive ways to go).

Good luck!

I appreciate the input, but we are actually long-time DVC owners who already own at GF. We truly do just need 25 points and are comfortable with how we will use them.:sunny:

We tried direct this summer at VGF and got informally waitlisted, and got a call from our guide about a month after we called. Unfortunately for them we had started a resale purchase in the mean time.

In that case - hope your guide can find them for you. All you can do is give him/her a call every so often to check. The smallest contracts I can see on the resale market right now are for 50 points.

Eventually I may be in your boat, trying to add on another 25 points to our 40 at VGF. I cannot believe I ever thought 40 would be enough!

I bought 65 and keep getting an idea I should have a few more but then I remind myself that I have yet to run into a situation that I don't have enough! It's a good amount to have. :goodvibes

Yes, we really only want to be at GFV while the Christmas decorations are up. So far, we have been able to go twice, will try again for December 2018.

I actually stopped at a DVC kiosk to ask about adding 25 direct for GF and he encouraged me to go talk to a guide the next day. Because I was an existing (resale) member, there really wasn't much discussion. I told him what I wanted, including October use year and he seemed doubtful, but made the call and amazingly enough, at least per him, they were available. I was actually able to charge them on my Disney credit card for points, and no interest for 6 months. It was a great experience!
