Adding dining plan onto a reservation- will be buying a resale

To anyone who has knowledge ...we will be purchasing a DVC resale thru the DVC marketplace and was wondering how we go about adding on the dining plan once reservation is made- also if they are offering free dining how would that work?? Would we be entitled to that or still have to pay extra?? Was just wondering how this works. Thanks so much.

After you make resevation you can view your reservations on the DVC website and there is a link to add dining plan which you can do up to 48 hrs before trip starts. Or you can call member services to add.

Free dining is a promotion to fill rooms. Except for the resorts currently being sold, DVC is 98% sold and so about 98% full at any given time. They don't need a promotion to fill rooms; you're already a captive audience. So. No free dining for you. Unless you book a room on the resort side and pay full freight.

Free dining was never a great deal anyway. Sometimes it was a good deal but never great. You had to give up standard discounts and pay full rack rate, so free dining was never free: the only people who ever pay full rates at Disney are doing so to get something for free. In other words: TANSTAAFL - There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

Might want to buy the Dinning plan before the 2018 rates come out in January I think if you are going in 2018. It will probably go up again next year.

Are you BUYING a DVC contract or are you RENTING a DVC reservation? There is a HUGE difference.

If you are buying a contract, which makes you a DVC owner, then you can contact Member Services either online or over the phone and add the dining plan to your reservation.

If you are renting a reservation, the OWNER that you are renting from needs to add the dining plan for you. It must be added no less than 48 hours before the start of your reservation and paid in full at the time it is added.

For DVC Reservations, the pricing of the dining plans is set by calendar year and based on check-in date.

So what would they do if you had a 2018 reservation booked 11 months out and added the dinning plan in 2017? Would they just charge you the difference when the 2018 rates came out?

You can't add dining plan to a 2018 reservation until the 2018 DDP rates are available.

Ohhhhhh, just checked my 2018 reservation and doesn't have the option to add the dinning plan. Thanks for the heads up. Well hopefully there isn't to big an increase for 2018.
