Adding days to a ticket at Disneyland/California Adventure

Hi everyone! I'm currently planning a trip for February.

I have read that at Disney WORLD you can go to city hall and add days to your non-expired ticket at a fairly low rate, and I was wondering if you could do this for Disneyland and California Adventure park hopper tickets as well.

There used to be 6 day park hopper tickets but apparently those are not for sale online anymore, I've heard due to scalpers and resellers using those the most.

We want to have 7 total days in the parks to do EVERYTHING, but I can't justify paying almost the same amount for 2 days as I did for the first five, each.

If anyone knows, is this able to be done at disneyland, to add days to a 5-day ticket, and if so what are the rates? We are a group of 4, youngest is 17.

You can't add days. They suggest buying an annual pass

Much has been discussed, quite honestly to death, on this board over this topic - doing a search on 6 day ticket or park hopper will likely provide you with a lot of reading material.

DLR used to have an inconsistent approach to this with some people being able to add days and some being told no, while official word from them always stated adding days was not allowed. Now it appears the tap has finally run dry and if you want anything more than a 5 day pass you must buy another day or multi day ticket or an annual pass. We bought APs in May and returning in late February to get another trip out of that expense as 5 days was just not enough for us either.

It would actually be cheaper to buy the Deluxe AP....a 5 day PH is $300 and a 2 day is $210 the Deluxe AP is $499...plus with that you get discounts on food and hotels and stuff and you can always use it as an excuse to come back within the next year Thats what we plan on doing...and the only block out days for the Deluxe AP in Feb is the 15th and 16th

Even at wdw you can only add up to the max number of days they sell tickets for (10). DL is the same. No way to add to a 5 day ticket.

Is it doable, in your experience, to do DL and CA fully in 5 days? We want to ride all the rides a couple times, take in a few shows/parades, shop, watch the little productions, take some pictures with characters, etc. and basically just absorb every last drop of Disneyland magic we can. We are not interested in character breakfasts or the like, though.

As I said, we're a group of 4 able-bodied adults with no health ailments that would prevent us from more or less going from opening to closing. Can we do it in 5 days, or should we consider staying for longer?

We have been able to do everything in 5 days with babies with us and swapping on big rides which takes extra time. You should be fine

We were able to add a 6th day to each of our 5-day PHP's in May. Have they put the kibosh on that?

^^ Yes, as long as your ticket has cash value (not complimentary) you can add up to 2 additional days to a 3-day pass.


The cost would be the difference between a 4-day ticket and your 3-day ticket.

Depends. If the Cast member bought the ticket, then most likely you can add days.


Look at the back of your ticket, if it says "non upgradable" or "Complementary" then you can not add days to that ticket.

Thank you. Haven't gotten the tickets in hand yet. I'm thinking we may not be able to because I think they are complementary ones. Thanks for the quick responses! Excited to go back with my kiddos AND my dad who hasn't been since 1988!

I don't believe the CMs have free tickets that are valid for more than one day. Perhaps they are purchasing them for you at a reduced rate? If it's the 2nd, they are upgradable.

See, be careful to make sure people have the same definition of "everything" that you do. My biggest reason for wanting/needing more than five days is that the *entertainment* takes more time because there are so many double bookings across the parks, especially in the afternoon. It is difficult, for example, to schedule your afternoon to catch, say, the "Beauty & the Beast" show in DL, see the Pixar Play Parade in DCA, and catch the Soundsational parade in DL. Being all faster-moving adults will help (as will being tall enough that you don't *need* to be in the front to see, like with small children, so you don't have to arrive as early). There are some things that are not as beholden to specific times, like Dancin' With Disney, which goes on steadily from 1-5pm and where you can see and dance with several characters at once. But "Aladdin" is can't-miss, and eats up another afternoon.
You'll have to plan more for some of the smaller entertainment, like the newsies on BVS, Minnie's Fly Girls, Dapper Dans, or the Phineas & Ferb's Rockin' Rollin' Dance Party, which don't take too much time, but do pop up at specific show times.
If "characters" mean super-popular ones like the princesses and the fairies, those will take you the same amount of time as waiting for some of the popular rides (but not crazy lines like at RSR). We just waited a full hour at Pixie Hollow on Thursday afternoon.
And of course, at least a couple of evenings will be spent seeing WOC, F!, and the fireworks. It all adds up.
If anyone can do "everything" in five days, it's a party like the one you described, but I think it would take a Serious Plan. Good luck!

You have to add it before midnight of your 2nd day use. Once you use your 2nd day and go beyond midnight, you will not be able to add it. 13 day window only applies to the amount of time you have to use your days and not add days.

For example: If you went to the park on Monday, skipped Tuesday and went again on Wednesday; you have by midnight Wednesday to add another day. Thursday at 12:00am would be too late and you would not be allowed.

If you know you want to add another day, I would do it the first day you used the ticket.

Thanks - exactly what I needed to know. Just ordered our tickets through Wild at Work - prices haven't gone up there yet.
