Adding a person to ADR. Is that possible? (going from 3 to 4)

At the time that we booked our trip, DH was not able to take off from work on our travel dates. He told me that he would just stay home and let DDs and me go. (I love him for that! :lovestruc ) He just had a work call with his boss, and the boss told him that he can now take off for those days! I just called WDW and found out the difference in price to add him to our reservation. He is considering the cost and possibly going now. My concern now is our dining reservations. I know that I will just call Disney dining and explain the situation. I will ask them if we can add him. I am nervous.....how likely will they be able to do it? We were a party of three. He would make it a party of four. My hope is that we would likely be at a table for four anyway so that it would not be a big deal. We have never had this happen before. Have any of you? How did it work out for your group?

It shouldn't be too hard to add. My dad originally wasn't going to go and it was just 3. We added him about 4 weeks before we were going and had no problem. The CM told us that since most parties of 3 (excluding the ones where you're sitting at a Family style meal) are going to be sat at a four person table it wasn't a problem.

Great to read this! It makes me feel better! I told him that he needs to decide tonight. I have to add him ASAP because we also have MVMCP ticktets for 12/7. The CM I talked to earlier said that tickets are still available for that night as of now.

Yeh, I would call ASAP tomorrow morning if you can. The only problem you might run into is them rebooking your ADR and putting that 10$/person fee if you cancel on your ADR's. But that doesn't make much difference if you already booked them after Oct 26th.

I agree with the PP shouldn't be a problem at all. We're a party of 3 and they always seat us at a 4 top.

If they give you any trouble fixing the ADRs on the phone, which they might, I would just show up at the restaurants and see if they can add him there. We are a party of 3, and although I have heard there are a couple of places that have tables for 3, we have never once been sat at a table that was not a 4 person table. I don't think you will have any trouble once you get to the restaurant.

I would not even adjust the dining reservations. Basically in the restaurant business there is just about no such thing as a table for three people. A group of three will always be seated at a four-top, so going up from an odd number of people to an even number will not change the table size. The problem is whn you go up from an even number to an odd number, then needing a larger table.

Thank you all for making me feel much better!
DH told me this morning that he will have a decision made by this afternoon. He wanted to talk to his co-workers today to make sure they are ok if he takes off. I am so excited that he may get to go with us! :goodvibes

The only problem that would come in is if the restaurant is filled to capacity (number of people allowed by fire code). If so, he couldn't be added.

Based on the above post, if you keep the reservations for 3 you should have a plan as to what your family will do if your extra person is denied admittance. Not saying it will happen, but it COULD happen.

I think I am going to call Disney dining and just inform them if he does decide to come. I would feel better doing it that way. I should know by tonight.

Not sure what good that will do you, as to change the party number you will have to rebook your reservations. They can certainly check and see if there is availability for four at the times you want. But they can't just add him to your existing reservations.

Oh, I thought they could just add him on. You mean they will let my ressie for three go and make me find a new one for four? I do not want to take that risk. I thought they would just add him to my existing one as they did with kirrby.

If they want to rebook you, have them make the new one first, then cancel the old one. You are better off getting reservations for four if you possibly can.

it all seems to depend on what CM you get when you call.

DH is going!!!!! YEAH!!! :cool1:

I just hung up with Disney dining. I explained that I did not want to cancel any reservation because DH was willing to eat CS rather than make us lose our ADRs that I worked so hard to get. The CM was very helpful. She was able to modify our existing reservations and add him to all but two of them. The two that she could not add him to are Chefs de France and Rainforest Cafe in AK. I thought those were strange ones not to get. I told DH what Cheshire Figment said. We are going to try to add him when we check in at those two locations. Then, if they will not take him, he will go to CS and let us eat at our reservation. I was quite thrilled that the helpful CM was able to add him to our Fantasmic dining package, CP dinner package, and CRT reservation! Those were the three most important, the three I was most nervous about. :thumbsup2
Thanks everyone! It will be a wonderful week!

Try calling the Rainforest Cafe directly and see what they can do that way. Then you can cancel your reservation through Disney if you get another one through them.

That won't work with Chefs de France, it seems to only work with some third party (non-Disney operated) restaurants outside the theme parks.

You can also go to the online reservations and look for yourself up until your trip date. I like to just go on there randomly and see what's all still open for our trip days...you know to try to figure out how busy WDW might be. Yes, I have a problem.

Oh, perfect idea! I had never thought about doing it that way! :thumbsup2
Thanks!

Yes, I have done that several times today, and I will continue to do it until I get one or until we leave. I will also try to call Rainforest Cafe directly, as TDC Nala suggested.
Thanks everyone! I am so excited that DH will be going with us! :goodvibes

PERFECT! That worked! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Thank you so much TDC Nala! The CM at Rainforest Cafe made me a new reservation for 4 people at the same time as the one I had previously! Great! Now there is only Chefs de France to work on. I will keep checking on that one until we leave. If all else fails, he will walk in with us and try to add him at check-in.
