Anyone add a night when they are at a Disney hotel while they are there? Do they offer good rates if you do or would I be better to book ahead of time? Also if we wait until we are there and add a night at a different Disney hotel, any thoughts on the rates?

we have always added the night before we leave just to make sure we get the room/hotel and the rate. i am sure, however, there are many who have added when they arrive. good luck!

I added a night the day before I was to fly out. I didn't get the same room but at that point it didn't matter to me. but the thing I could not believe the room was less money then the other 4 nights I stayed. I called them from US to book the room and I was shocked. :D

We tried to add a night on our trip last Dec. while we were staying at the Polynesian. We were told they were totally booked by a very unfriendly CM and the only thing they could possibly offer me was LV concierge at $500/night (ouch!). No help to even find us a room at another resort or tell me who to call to do this. I was so upset I even wrote a letter when I returned home. I did received a telephone call from Disney and they were very helpful in arranging our Nov. trip.

I would advise if you think you need an extra night, book it now.

last summer we stayed at the AKL and decided that we wanted to
stay for 2 extra days. I just called the front desk and a very nice
cm checked availabilty and said everything was set for an extra
2 nights. We also got the same discounted rate for the extra 2
nights and did not have to switch rooms. We did have to bring
our keys to the front desk and get the keys re-coded. It was
actually a very simple process. :)

I'm sure it totally depends on whether or not there is a room available. I added a night midway through my visit at WL in early July -- I didn't expect there to be a room but there was, and they billed it at the reduced rate at which I had originally gotten the room. If you aren't going during a really busy time, I'm sure that there would be no problem.
