We have our trip booked with a dining plan using our BLT points. We decided to stay one more night at the end but don't have any BLT points left. Can we add a day using our SS points and stay in the same room? We also wouldn't want to add that day to the dining plan either.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Yes, you can add a night using your SSR points for BLT as long as you book at the 7 month mark or later.

The reservation for the single night can be added to your current reservation number by MS, if you are using the same member number, so you would have no problems staying in the same room.

The dining plan would have to be added to the night, however if you do what you want, same room for 1 more night.

Your points can be used to stay at whatever resort you want if it is available and you are past the 7 month booking window. Just because they are SSR points does not mean you have to stay at SSR. So yes, if you are past the 7 month mark then you can book the extra night - they will just add it to the current reservation number and extend the reservation. I think the dining plan has to be for every night of your reservation so you would have to add that day to the dining plan.

Thanks for the responses. But I'm not quite sure I've received the answer I'm looking for.

To be clear I want the last night as its own reservation because I don't want that day on the meal plan. I also don't want to have to move rooms for the last night.

I'm not worried about the 7 month window because the 2 bedrooms rarely book up at 7 months for BLT at that time of year.

You want the last night to be a different reservation but you want to be in the same room. I have never heard of that happening. If for instance you booked the last night doing a different order if the names and it had a different reservation number you would have to check out.

You want the room but not the dining plan, I just do not think that could happen. Ask.

You can leave it separate and ask at check in to stay in the same room. It's likely they would block you into it so you wouldn't have to move but it won't be guaranteed like it would be if you just added the night onto your existing reservation. That's the risk you'll take to not have the dining plan that night. I think it's a very small risk though and they likely will accommodate.

The dining plan really isn't worth the cost. You would be better off with TIW or just pay cash and using the DVC discounts.

If you've booked the same room type, just tell them that you want to stay in the same room when you check in. You'll have to visit the front desk to check out and back in on that day, but they should be able to keep you in the same room.

Your title says "with a different membership." Can you clarify that point? Is it really a different membership, or just a different home resort under the same membership? If it's the same membership, Member Services might combine the reservations and throw a wrench in your dining plan plans.

Different home resort, I just assumed they were considered different memberships.

I could see them combining, maybe I should buy the dining plan before adding the extra night.

I think I'll book it and let them know when checking in. Worst case scenario is we have to move our luggage to another floor.

They've been known to combine the reservations and cancel/refund the dining plan without notifying you.

I'd be surprised if they cancelled and refunded the the dining plan money because I didn't want it for a 10th day. It seems like really bad business to not want my 3k. That said, I'm not disagreeing with you as I could see them doing it on principal. I guess I'll call to be sure then when I hit my 7 month window.

All you need to do is follow the rule, and all will go like clock work.

Couldn't he just book that extra night as a separate reservation and switch the primary traveler's name with another guest in the room? Wouldn't this prevent their combining the reservations? And he wouldn't need to add the dining plan for that extra night. Then he could link the 2 reservations to stay in the same room (not guaranteed but still likely to work).

In order to actually link the room type AND the names need to be identical so it would still be asking at check in to stay in the same room and no guarantees on what the CM would do with the reservation. But yes, they could try a different order to the names.

I've never had MS combine reservations I haven't asked them to but others report they have had it happen. As my experience is that they don't I personally would not expect it to happen.

If they link the reservation, you will have the dining plan for all the nights of your stay. DVC stated before (when people were adding the dining plan for one night or a few nights) that the practice would cease. If you want to stay in the same room, they link it and you get the dining plan for all the nights. If it is a different sized villa, different resort or different booking category, it cannot be linked and you don't need the plan for the last night.
