Adding a guest if necessary

My DS and DDIL are planning to join us for our trip next May. Mom and I are booked at ASMo in a preferred room (wheelchair accessible). I have two questions:

I noticed this room has an adjoining room next to it, what are the chances of being able to book that one if we request it early.

My DDIL may not be able to go for work reasons. My DS will come anyway, is it easy to add one person to my existing reservation? We would be adding as another package.

thank you!

You can add someone to a package at a later date but there may be a fee for the change, depending on how close to the trip you add them. If you want to be more flexible and not occur any change fees then book a room only and purchase tickets separately. Then you aren't confined to the rules and fees of a package reservation.

You cannot book connecting rooms, it is only a request. I believe in the recent renovations more HA rooms may have been added, so I wouldn’t trust any maps right now that show all HA as connecting to the next room.

It is easy to add a guest to your room. If you have a package, and decide to add your son to your room, he will need the same package components (tickets and dining, as applicable). However, if you cancel his room within 60 days of arrival (after booking FP+), i think he may lose his FP even if you subsequently add him to your room. A room-only and separate tickets may be the better option. That would also allow for a later cancellation on your son+DIL’s room without penalty.

Enjoy your vacation!

Be sure if you want to add another room you request CONNECTING if you want the inside door between the 2 rooms. To Disney, adjoining rooms are simply rooms near each other. And as Marionette pointed out, connecting rooms are a request only. You cannot book them.

I wonder if anyone has had experience changing one room member online. I know I can add a member and delete one. I just want to be sure if I delete one, I can then go back and add the other one. Or, if I add temporary #3, then delete #2, would that work?

EDIT: I found the answer. In my case, I dropped one. The process took me back to room choice/rate page (which was the same as my original reservation) so I accepted terms and changed party numbers. Then, I went back to add the other person. Same process exactly, and I was able to add the other to the reservation. No phone call needed.
