A young adult in our family just started taking Adderall (10mg) Any stories?

What is the difference between Aderall and Aderall XR? Which do you prefer? When did it "kick in" and help you or your loved one?

I hope this will help him Major concentration issues for years now Hoping this is the wonder drug he needs.

Adderall XR is a time release capsule. DD7 takes this medication and has for over a year now. My stepson who is 12 takes the regular Adderall twice a day....once before school and once after lunch. I can tell a HUGE difference in DD7 when she doesn't take her medication. She can also.

I don't know that it is a wonder drug because it can have some serious side effects but it has been a tremendous help for DD7. She is now a straight A student and her reading level went from below level to above grade level. She enjoys school now and has perfect attendance this year.

I can't help my DD use Concerta not Atterall but hugs to you and your family while you go through this... the right meds and the right dose can do wonders.

My son started on regular Adderall 2 years ago, but we found almost from the start it wasn't doing much for him. He was switched to Adderall XR and has been very successful with it. DS's main issue was impulse control and the Adderal XR helps him keep those impulses in check.

My 5 year old son is on regular Adderall. He takes 10 mg onces a day. It has really helped him with impulse control and hyperactivity. Don't get me wrong, he's still a ball of fire, but the meds have really helped keep him on a more even keel. His teacher can totally tell when he's missed a dose! He's able to focus better - take today for example. He came from school and for over an hour, he sat at the table and colored in a coloring book, and neatly at that. He would never have done that before he started taking meds! When he first started taking Adderall, he was really sleep for the first 2 or 3 days and had a bit of a tummy ache. After that though, he's had no side effects at all. Good luck!
